All air conditioners have switched to a different form of freon that isn't as harmful to the environment. Perhaps halting production means that they can't manufacture the older type of air conditioner that uses the more harmful form of freon. I simply don't believe that air conditioners aren't going to be produced anymore. If you have a source, please post it.

I'm sure its to help with the green house effect and to protect the ozone level, guess we have to sacrifice some things to protect the world we live in.

Split ACs are taking over. But automobile ACs well increase pollution .and temperature.
