Hey, lots of people hear voices; most treat it as strong memory or strong imagination. It's the ones who OBEY the voices in their heads you gotta worry about.

If it were a medical disease you would be able to get treatment for it at you medical centre.....God exists..Jesus is alive and His Spirit is here on earth now. As someone suggested, reading the Bible is an important way of communicating with God but it is also possible when fully Spirit filled, to communicate..by the Holy Spirit, through Jesus with God...and that means for some..hearing God speak...for some..knowing Gods will by divine knowledge...and others just 'feeling' what Gods will is for them.
People who actually hear Gods voice are privileged...and they do hear Him! They can converse with God face to face just as the faithful did in the Bible.
People have to believe what they want to believe but the way to communication with God is open to all of us.....millions of Christians take that way...everyone else has a choice......
Best wishes, Mike.

UM....no Christians DO NOT hear voices when they pray to God. We get direct information from him from the Bible.
There are some people who do believe that God speaks to them. However they are mostly misled as God has no need to speak to people because there is the Bible. God can communicate with people by altering events and settings around us, however.

Mental illness is generally defined based on deviation from 'normality'. So one could argue that religion is not a disease simply because it affects a majority of people.

No. The furthest thing it can be is 'spiritual disease'. But of course Religion also has positive facets.

actually, i feel tht religon can be both a cause of disease as well as a miraculous cure, depending on the person.while for people like terrorists and extremists, who twist and turn it, they have bcome slaves of insanity..whereas, to many people, religon can relieve them of their daily tensions, everyday stresses and give them permanent bliss and relief..
