yes.....people who use guns are cowards and are unskilled. it takes finesse and dexterity to wield a melee weapon where as in a gun only takes a drunk retard the effort of pointing the shiney;]

Uh well when it comes to hunting I don't think so. I shoot a deer almost every year with my gun. I would look kind of foolish out in the woods with a knife now wouldn't I? I haven't had much luck deer hunting with a knife. They seem to smell, see, hear me when I get too close. This ain't the movies. If your going to go hunting bring a gun silly. Unless your talking about man to man combat in which this doesn't even belong in the hunting section. But if you are then I believe the man dead on the ground holding the knife would be less of a man than the guy still standing with a gun in his hand. Being smart is one thing. Being foolish is a death sentence.

This question belongs in martial arts, not hunting. Anyhow.
The weapon doesn't make the man. In fact, the man makes the weapon. No matter what you are using, it's only as good as its user. A blade in untrained hands is a threat, but in the hands of someone trained in its use, it's deadly. A gun has a greater lethal potential than any blade I know, but that is only because it can deliver damage from a distance. And just like a knife or a sword, in untrained hands it's extremely hazardous at best. But it's only truly effective in the hands of someone who knows how to use it.
My hobbies do not include only firearms. I am also a Western Martial Artist, studying various styles of swordsmanship. And on top of it a soldier. So really I see both sides of the coin.
And no, choosing a firearm over a close-quarters weapon doesn't make you a coward or less of a man.
A sword is hard to use. It requires skill that is only part natural, most of it being conditionned muscle memory and strategy. It calls for balance, footwork, hand-eye coordination and a very keen spatial awareness and sense of timing. Only with all of these can a sword be a weapon and not just a sharpened hunk of metal.
A firearm calls for many of the same things. As a soldier, I have to be skilled in the use of various types of weapons, and guns require training, just like melee weapons. It takes a long time to be a truly proficient shot, because there is so much more than just pointing the weapon towards what you want to shoot and pulling the trigger. It takes work and effort to make your stances become natural and instinctive, to develop the muscle memory to have a smooth draw or presentation every time, to know exactly how your eyes relate to the sights, how to gauge your distances and the wind. There are so many things that need to be taken into consideration. The effort is more mental than swordsmanship, but it's there still.
And why would someone in my position be a coward for using his assault rifle instead of his bayonet? I am being shot at. If I cross a hundred meters of open ground with a knife between my teeth, I'm going to get killed. But with my rifle, I know I'm surgical to 200 meters. This is a case of choosing the right tool for the job.

No, it makes you less of an idiot. CCW permits are not very hard to get in the majority of states and even if if the gun just sat in a night stand by your bed, you would have to be stupid to take a knife over a gun. All that that ******** about chivalry and honor by the blade, is just that, ********. It goes back to early days before firearms. It is very outdated and impractical today. Had the Samurai and European knights had access to firearms I guarantee you they would have used them.

You might be confused. I use both. Have you ever tried to stab a deer and then field dress the deer with a gun?
They are just tools for different uses. Does having a microscope make a scientist less of a man than using is unaided eyesight?
Be a goof somewhere else.

God made man and Sam Colt made them equal!
As we grow old and tired of fighting with our soft little fists and feet we tend to replace them with objects. Just as we tire of walking we drive autos and ride buses.
If my side arm makes me less of a man, I am happy being that old man in the corner that no man of any size will mess with because of the 44 in my holster and the blade on my belt.
Are all cops wusses? Most cops I know are fluent in martial arts, knives , and firearms.
If I see you getting mugged on the street and your knife in the wrong hands getting ready for the trip where the sun doesn't shine...I will fight the urge to stop and help you because in your books I'm not enough of a man.
Remember: Don't take a knife to a gun fight!!

I carry a gun, knife, mace, ASP, flashlight, & handcuffs. The weapon I use the most is my own physical presence. #2 in my choice of weapons is the gun. I gaurantee you no one thinks less of me for carrying a gun. And yes I am licensed to carry and highly trained in all these weapons along with mixed martial arts.

Years ago in the service of my country I leaned many things; among which, the ability to kill with a ball point pen, a pencil or a rolled up magazine and so on. Having the abillity to resolve differences without resorting to force is the mark of a man with wisdom.

Not at ALL!
In fact, the TRUE Cowards are those who supposedly abhore violence, and are inwardly so afraid to stand up to a threat with ANY weapon, those that think the 'Authorities' are going to protect them from the 'Beasts"! ! !
A 'REAL MAN' will defend his person. family and property HIMSELF, at ANY cost, no matter WHAT weapon he may choose!
That is one of the TRUE tests of a real Citizen and Patriot!
As the Grand Master of Science Fiction, Robert A. Heinlein once said," An armed society is a POLITE society!"
AND
"A Nation that requires it's citizens to carry personal ID is not long from the encroaching 'Dark'!"
A Man with a weapon is a Citizen! Without one, he's just a Slave!

I'm not sure what you are implying by your question. This is the hunting category and knives are not generally considered primary hunting instruments. But I will say this: Only a fool takes a knife to a gun fight.
