the coupe is faster because it's lighter and aerodynamics are better.
so if u want the best of both worlds, get a coupe and buy and install the glassback from CDC & Webasto or a scenic roof from saleen...
it is basially a "glass roof" on a coupe, so u get the feeling on a convertible, but the performace of a coupe. and it looks cool too. cost $4 000.

doug doesnt spend any time at the track apperantly. The coupe is faster. Convertibles weight is the main reason. there is a 150lbs difference between the convertable and the coupe. Believe me, 150lbs makes a difference. Take a look at the shelby 500 convertable and the coupe. The coupe is listed as 2 tenths of a second faster in the 1/4 mile which translates to about 4-6 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. The arodynamic differences are minimal.

The coupe, it is a bit lighter and the chassis is more ridgid giving the car a better launch. Now in the real world, there isn't enough diff to notice under normal conditions so if you like driving with the lid down, by all means buy the rag top and let the wind flow.

usually the coupe....it is lighter and with convertibles the frame flexes more giving it less traction off the get go....This has been me experience with my two 69 cameros.

same car, same frame same drive train=same HP. the car isnt going to go any faster with the top up or down so why would it be slower or faster than one with a solid top. it wont. and as far as the frame goes, they are the same. the weight between a convert and a coupe isnt enough to determine which is faster if that is the only difference.
