So I am a Religious Studies / Anthropology dual major at U.C. Berkeley and I was wondering if there are any other Comparative Religions and Religious Studies students in R&S. Not seminary students but people who study religions from a secular perspective. Seems like most people in R&S are laypeople, not academics or religious leaders.

The question is "Are there any Comparative Religions and Religious Studies majors in R&S?".

Sorry if I offended anyone one. I did not mean to imply that I, other Religion majors or religious leaders are better then laypeople. After all, without religious followers any church, mosque or temple is just an empty building. Believers are the lifeblood of any faith and have just as much a say in their faith as scholars and clergy. I just wanted to if there were any other people with a background similar to mine on R&S.

I did some Comparative Religions Studies for my Theological Degree sometimes ago. I am layman and love Jesus and honor Him as the center of my life.

How can I help?

There can be only ONE true religion.
And as a religious student, you should have a Bible.
So to find the true religion, in Christianity at least, compare all the branches of Christianity and see which one is totally obeying ALL the scriptures.
And answer questions, not from man's point of view, but from God's.
IS JESUS GOD IN ANOTHER FORM?
(John 5:19) Therefore, in answer, Jesus went on to say to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.

IS THE RELIGION OBEYING THIS SCRIPTURE?

(Matthew 28:19-20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

CAN A SMALL NUMBER OF 'MINISTERS' ACCOMPLISH THIS?

The answer has to be...NO.

DID JESUS LIMIT THE NUMBER TO OBEY THIS SCRIPTURE?

No. He was addressing EVERYONE.
So the question arises...What Christian religion exists in which EVERYONE preaches.
Catholics...X
Protestants...X
Mormons...only two, only men, but do not use the Bible.
Muslims...do not believe Jesus is God's son.
Buddhists....follow the philosophy of an ordinary man.

Put every religion to the test and you will find it.

Ive probably read many of the same books you have for your major, but inspired by my own curiosity. Never taken course in school. Sometimes I wish I could discuss ideas with others who read the same material. Im really fascinated with the history of Egypt at the time of the Hebrew exodus, I beleive the Hebrews simply adopted the monotheism of Akhenaton which was corrupted over time until it became what was written in the old testament.

What makes one an expert is not how much they can recite from rote memory, but how much is in their heart. That they are ready to share the gospel with anyone and that they have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb! Remember, that the Bible says that God hides things from the wise and intellectual and reveals them to the mouths of babes? God will be with us and give us what we are to say at the appointed time! It is good to study the Bible everyday so that we will be a good witness for the Lord whenever possible!

I merely pick to be attentive to each and each of the only thousand's of concept structures and each and each of the bible and evaluate all this. it is my 40 seventh year from age 27. The bible is real and appropriate and it takes long term bible scholars to be attentive to the bible, maximum concept structures are way off, making religions a puzzled mess.
