I was fine yesterday, but when I woke up this morning my left side of the tongue was sore. I wasn't sure what were the causes. Does anybody know what causes sore tongues? Like, is it part of some kind of cold or flu? Serious answers please.

You may have bitten your tongue in your sleep. You could have a vitamin B deficiency. Are the corners of your mouth cracked and sore, as well? Tender and sore mouth, cracked corners of the mouth, could be symptoms of vitamin deficiency.

Is your throat sore also? Sometimes sore tongue will accompany a sore throat if you have a cold or the flu.
