"because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God."

The Bible teaches that only a few people are on the narrow road to life.—Matthew 7:13, 14.
The Bible foretold that after the death of the apostles, wrong teachings and unchristian practices would slowly come into the Christian congregation. Men would draw away believers to follow them instead of Christ. (Matthew 7:15, 21-23; Acts 20:29, 30) That is why we see so many different religions that claim to be Christian. How can we identify true Christians?
The most outstanding mark of true Christians is that they have real love among themselves. (John 13:34, 35) They are not taught to think that they are better than people of other races or skin color. Neither are they taught to hate people from other countries. (Acts 10:34, 35) So they do not share in wars. True Christians treat one another as brothers and sisters.—1 John 4:20, 21.
Another mark of true religion is that its members have a deep respect for the Bible. They accept it as the Word of God and believe what it says. (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17) They treat God’s Word as being more important than human ideas or customs. (Matthew 15:1-3, 7-9) They try to live by the Bible in their everyday life. So they do not preach one thing and then practice another.—Titus 1:15, 16.
The true religion must also honor God’s name. (Matthew 6:9) Jesus made God’s name, Jehovah, known to others. True Christians must do the same. (John 17:6, 26; Romans 10:13, 14) Who are the people in your community that tell others about God’s name?
True Christians must preach about God’s Kingdom. Jesus did so. He always talked about the Kingdom. (Luke 8:1) He commanded his disciples to preach this same message in all the earth. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) True Christians believe that only God’s Kingdom will bring true peace and security to this earth.—Psalm 146:3-5.
Jesus’ disciples must be no part of this wicked world. (John 17:16) They do not get involved in the world’s political affairs and social controversies. They avoid the harmful conduct, practices, and attitudes that are common in the world. (James 1:27; 4:4) Can you identify a religious group in your community that has these marks of true Christianity?

Jesus said that the true religion would be evident in the lives of the people who practice it."By their fruit you will recognize them, " he said. "Every good tree produces fine fruit,"(Matthew 7:16,17) In other words, those who practice the true religion would be evident by their beliefs and their conduct. Although they are not perfect and they make mistakes. True worshippers as a group seek to do
God's will. Here are six features that identify those who practice true religion. 1)Base their teachings on the Bible. 2)worship only Jehovah and make his name known 3)show genuine love for one another. 4)accept Jesus as God's means of salvation. 5) Are no part of the world. 6) Preach God's Kingdom as man's only hope. Please read the following scriptures that support this 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 1Thessalonians 2:13; Matthew 4:10; Psalms 83:18;John 17:6; John 13:35; 1John 3:10-12;4:20,21; Acts 4:12; John 3:36; John 18:36; Acts 5:29; Matthew 24:14; Psalms 146:3; Matthew 6:10. I hope this helps

Please consider rephrasing your question to, what is a true believer? There is so much confusion today because people are not careful with the terms they throw around and just assume that they mean the same thing to everybody. There are two spirits who have access to our thoughts. One is evil and wants to keep us confused, the other is Holy and wants very much for us to understand the truth about ourselves, others, Her, Jesus, God, inspired scripture, and evil. The unholy spirit is brash, arrogant, demanding, selfish and critical most of the time but is capable of being nice if necessary. Jesus is very real, but He is in heaven and is not what the christians think He is. God is very real, but He is also in heaven and not accessible to us. The Spirit of truth is very real also, and She is right inside us and invites us to know Her. Just accept.

A TRUE Christian: Doesn't work on Sunday, thinks that God should be everyone's first priority, believes homosexuality is wrong, thinks atheists will all go to Hell, has a strong urge to force others into Christianity, is very ignorant, has no problem with lying to get their point across, and is unable to think outside of what they're told by their Bible or at church.
A true Christian is a bigoted asshole.

From my experience, there is no such thing as a "true christian." In order to be a "christian" you have to admit to being a vile, unlovable, rotten individual. Then conform to a set of rules that plainly states they can't be followed. Think of the psychological issues this creates. In short, I find that christians seem to be humans atempting to be spiritual, while us heathens know we are spirits trying to be human. I studied the bible for close to 15 years and it taught me not to believe in christianity, but to look at nature. In America we are free to choose, I made a better choice for me.

Jehovah's Witnesses seem like the truest christians to me.
They seem very obsessed with extracting the orignal (correct) meanings of the original scriptures, rather than using the re-interpretted, watered-down versions of the 'word'.
There is a reason that the bibles have version, such as 'King James'. It is because revisions (re-/misinterpretations) have been made.
If I were ever going to give up my atheism, I'd have to give the Witnesses first dibs on my brain.

A true christian is one who believes in Jesus Christ. Also one who displays the actions of Jesus Christ. It is impossible to say that you are a true christian but you don't display any characteristics that are Christ-like. Is a true christian perfect? No. Just striving for perfection.
