"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."
Colossians 2:16,17
True Sabbath rest is entered into by faith in Christ.
It is when we cease trying to please God by our own works, and rest in the completed work of the cross.
See Hebrews chapter 4 for more on this.

"Theology: The new Sabbath
"Behold, I make all things new", says the LORD God Almighty on His throne (Revelation 21:5). In the person of Jesus Christ, the law was not abolished but fulfilled, perfected.
In the first story of Creation, in Genesis 1:1-2:3, God rests on the seventh day and makes it holy: on it He rested from all the work during His creation. Thus, the Sabbath. This is the third commandment delivered to Moses, that the seventh day of the week is holy and that we should refrain from work on that day (Exodus 20:8-11). How fitting is it, then, that the Sabbath, the day of rest for both man and God, was the only full day our Lord lay in the tomb, dead for our sins. A silent Sabbath, a most Holy Saturday. And then, after the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning (Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:1-2) the women who loved Jesus went to the tomb, but he was not there: he had risen!
How fitting the Christian Sabbath is the first day of the week. The first day of the week is connected to the first day of Creation, when God said "Let there be light"! That first day, the first of all days, when God's work was truly begun. And Easter Sunday, nearly 2000 years ago, was the day on which Jesus's work truly began in us. We put our own work aside and glorify God -- for the Sabbath is the Lord's day"

And it certainly all started out some time past in Genesis whilst the Lord rested on the seventh day. And curiously there is not any different reason we've the 7 day week. It does not line up with the moon, or a 12 months because of the fact word we want a 'bounce' 12 months each and every so in lots of cases. After the final apostles died, and the Greeks and then Romans became Christians, there develop into diverse persecution and loss of life of diverse of those human beings. Pagans worshipped on sunday, the day of the sunlight, the fertility goddess. It became a good purchase safer to connect in. And at specific factors, human beings had to artwork daily different than sunday, which develop into the pagan day of worship. This develop into one thank you to split Christians and then kill them. with the help of Constantine, the Roman catholic church develop into beginning up, and sunday develop into instituted because of the fact the church leaders suggested so. yet that's God's regulation, no longer something adult males can substitute. Even the cases, whilst the day starts exhibits us how distinctive that's. in this methodology of sunday, the recent day starts and leads to ...darkness. properly, lots could properly be suggested, yet human beings now often worship on sunday.

Isaiah 1:13 - God begins to reveal His displeasure with the Sabbath.
Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; John 20:1,19- the Gospel writers purposely reveal Jesus' resurrection and appearances were on Sunday. This is because Sunday had now become the most important day in the life of the Church.
Acts 20:7 - this text shows the apostolic tradition of gathering together to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, the "first day of the week." Luke documents the principle worship was on Sunday because this was one of the departures from the Jewish form of worship.
1 Cor. 16:2 - Paul instructs the Corinthians to make contributions to the churches "on the first day of the week," which is Sunday. This is because the primary day of Christian worship is Sunday.
Col. 2:16-17 - Paul teaches that the Sabbath was only a shadow of what was fulfilled in Christ, and says "let no one pass judgment any more over a Sabbath."
2 Thess. 2:15 - we are to hold fast to apostolic tradition, whether it is oral or written. The 2,000 year-old tradition of the Church is that the apostles changed the Sabbath day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.
Heb. 4:8-9 - regarding the day of rest, if Joshua had given rest, God would not later speak of "another day," which is Sunday, the new Sabbath. Sunday is the first day of the week and the first day of the new creation brought about by our Lord's resurrection, which was on Sunday.
Heb. 7:12 - when there is a change in the priesthood, there is a change in the law as well. Because we have a new Priest and a new sacrifice, we also have a new day of worship, which is Sunday.
Rev 1:10 - John specifically points out that he witnesses the heavenly Eucharistic liturgy on Sunday, the Lord's day, the new day of rest in Christ.
Matt. 16:19; 18:18 - whatever the Church binds on earth is bound in heaven. Since the resurrection, Mass has been principally celebrated on Sunday.
On the Lord's own day, assemble in common to break bread and offer thanks, but first confess your sins so that your sacrifice may be pure." Didache, 14 (A.D. 90).
"In fine, let him who contends that the Sabbath is still to be observed as a balm of salvation, and circumcision on the eighth day because of the threat of death, teach us that, for the time past, righteous men kept the Sabbath, or practiced circumcision, and were thus rendered "friends of God." For if circumcision purges a man since God made Adam uncircumcised, why did He not circumcise him, even after his sinning, if circumcision purges? At all events, in settling him in paradise, He appointed one uncircumcised as colonist of paradise. Therefore, since God originated Adam uncircumcised, and inobservant of the Sabbath, consequently his offspring also, Abel, offering Him sacrifices, uncircumcised and inobservant of the Sabbath, was by Him commended; while He accepted what he was offering in simplicity of heart, and reprobated the sacrifice of his brother Cain, who was not rightly dividing what he was offering. Noah also, uncircumcised--yes, and inobservant of the Sabbath--God freed from the deluge. For Enoch, too, most righteous man, uncircumcised and in-observant of the Sabbath, He translated from this world; who did not first taste death, in order that, being a candidate for eternal life, he might by this time show us that we also may, without the burden of the law of Moses, please God." Tertullian, An answer to the Jews, 2 (A.D. 203).
"Hence it is not possible that the rest after the Sabbath should have come into existence from the seventh of our God; on the contrary, it is our Saviour who, after the pattern of His own rest, caused us to be made in the likeness of His death, and hence also of His resurrection." Origen, Commentary on John, 2:27 (A.D. 229).
I'm Catholic and what ever Christ true Church is true then its true. The Church says the new covenant holy day is Sunday then its Sunday.

We keep every day holy because the Lord Jesus Christ is our Sabbath. What does it say about the other days of the week if we only keep one day holy? Look around and you will quickly see the answer. God said that in it, in the holy day, we would do no work. The law points us to Jesus and God was foretelling us about the day when he would meet all of our needs and cause us to trust in him completely and wherein he would cause us to take on his character and to rest from all of the ways that we try to justify ourselves by giving us the gift of faith in our savior, Jesus Christ.

My answer might be a little long but I promise it will answer all your questions about the Sabbath
The change of the calendar had no effect on the weekly cycle
The US Naval Observatory and the Royal Observatory both confirm the 7th day Sabbath(Saturday) is the SAME Sabbath that Jesus kept.
The commandments says Remember "THE" Sabbath to keep it holy. Notice the commandment does not say "PICK" a Sabbath day and keep it holy
We have direct commandment from the Lord saying "Keep The Sabbath day holy", and we have a tradition that says keep Sunday holy. What would Jesus do?
"Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Matt 15:3
"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matt 15:9
When tradition conflicts with the word of God Jesus wants us to obey God.
There is no verse in the New Testament that commands us to worship on Sunday. I will address some of the earlier statements
1) "I do not think it matters to God which day of our week it is as long as we keep one for him."
The first person to say "It doesn't matter how we worship God" is Cain. Cain said "It doesn't matter how we worship God as long as we give something God will accept it. God does not care as long as you give and call it holy. Don't be legalistic Abel."
Was he right?
Is God specific about what He says.
2)At one time it was called "The Lord's Day' because it was in rememberence of the day He arose from the tomb.
NOT ONE verse to support this claim, nor is there any verse in the Bible calling Sunday the Lord's Day. the only days called the Lord's day is the Sabbath(Saturday) and the day of Christ’s 2nd coming
Exodus 20:8
Isa 58:13,14
Matthew 12:8
Mark 2:28
Luke 6:5
Provide ONE verse that calls Sunday the Lord's Day
3)Col. 2:16-17
verse 17 says "things which are a mere shadow of what IS TO COME; but the substance belongs to Christ."
These verses are talking about ceremonial Sabbaths like passover which points to the crucifiction, the feast of first fruits which points to the resurrection etc but the 7th day points to creation. It does NOT point FORWARD it points BACK to creation. "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" Why? "Because in 6 days the Lord created the Heavens and the earth."
4) "In the person of Jesus Christ, the law was not abolished but fulfilled, perfected."
"Do NOT THINK that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I HAVE NOT come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
does fulfill mean do away with or end
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to do away with them.
Isn’t that the contradictory?
The verses that scholar_wood quotes are taken out of context
5) Isaiah 1:13 - God begins to reveal His displeasure with the Sabbath.
Isaiah 1:15 says God hates prayers also does that mean we should not pray
God had a problem with they way they were keeping the Sabbath because they did it as aroutine they were pretending to follow God
"These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." Isaiah 29:13
This also contradicts the fact that in Isaiah God tells people to keep the Sabbath and that they will keep the Sabbath in Heaven
Isaiah 56:2-8
Isaiah 58:13
Isaiah 66:23
6) Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; John 20:1,19
Where in any of these verses does it say that Sunday is the new day of worship? Where does it say that the Sabbath is done away with?
We are New Covenant Christians Jesus created Communion on Thursday (Luke 22:7-38), Jesus instituted the New Covenant on Thursday )Matt 26:28), Jesus ascended into Heaven on Thursday (Acts 1:3-11). Should we keep Thursday as the New Sabbath. This is how you are trying to justify Sunday observance. There is NO command to worship on any day other than the Sabbath.
7) Acts 20:7 this text shows the apostolic tradition of gathering together to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, the "first day of the week." Luke documents the principle worship was on Sunday because this was one of the departures from the Jewish form of worship.
Acts 2:46 says they broke bread together everyday. Breaking bread means eating not eucharist
Where in this verse does this say that the Sabbath is done away with?
Where does this verse say that we should keep Sunday Holy?
Where does this verse say that it was common to meet on Sunday?
The verse tells us why the met on Sunday, because Paul was leaving the next day
8) 1 Corinthians 16:2
Where does this verse say that the Sabbath is done away with?
Where does this verse say that Sunday is the new day of worship?
Where does this verse say that they even met on Sunday?
This verse says nothing about worship. What it is talking about is collecting money to distribute in Jerusalem (vs. 3) because there was a famine Acts 11:27-30
If we look at Acts 18 Paul went to Corinth to build the Church
Acts 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Acts 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
That is 72 Sabbaths
9) Hebrews 4:8-9
These verses are followed by verse 10 which states “There remains a rest for the people of God” the word rest is translated from the Greek word Sabbatismos which means a keeping of the Sabbath.
10) Hebrews 7:12
Yes Jesus did end the ceremonial laws that dealt with animal sacrifices, but these laws are different from the 10 commandment laws which are eternal. Also Paul who wrote the book of Hebrews still kept the Sabbath, Acts 13 and Acts 18.
Did Jesus expect his followers to keep the Sabbath after he ascended into heaven?
Jesus speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D.
Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. Matthew 24:20
If you love me KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are NOT grievous I John 5:3
Revelation 14 says that 3 messages go out to the world right before the end comes. The first message says worship the creator and then it quotes the 4th commandment.
God is calling his people to return to the commandments and worship Him as He has described. He wants His people to leave man made traditions and come back to His word.
