or even more importantly, a group of people living this way?
- from Eknath Easwaran's book Gandhi the Man ..."...Satyagraha is gentle. It never wounds. It must not be the result of anger or malice. It is never fussy, never impatient, never vociferous. It is the direct opposite of compulsion. It was conceived of as a complete substitute for violence." ... ....The ashram sick were his special love; he vented on them all his childhood passion for nursing, and visited each person in the Sevagram infirmary with some special little gift or bit of news. It was always a cheerful sene when Gandhi was around. ...In the evening after his walk the prayer meeting was held under the tropical sky. As the sun set, hundreds of people gathered around with little hurricane lanterns to hear Gandhi speak. ....

Until your enemy is matured enough to understand your weapon satyagraha (by Gandhi),your fight against him is meaningless.Do we have any enemy like this now.Forgiveness and patience are two good habits we should learn from Gandhi when we start our journey towards our goals. If you take Gandhi's sayings as whole you may find them unfit to follow in today's life. But if you go in deeper you will find some good things which are to be followed.I hope still Iam not answering properly to your question.

If Gandhi were born today he would have been different. Everybody has to change with the times.

Why Gandhi, if an incarnation takes place today, He will be in tie and suit. That's true.

There are quite a few! You may not notice them, but they are there -- all over the world! Some naturopaths, some ahimsa advocates, some philanthropes, some "one-man armies" doing good to people and society around, in their own quiet (Gandhian) way all the time, without ado or fuss, without publicity!

So long we know of gandhi as a person who was there, and who does not exist any more; we will never ever find him any where.

However when we begin to learn and practise to treat him as a knowledge, a knowledge of self, and a powerful medium and source of such information and knowledge; it is only then that we can perhaps find him, acquire him, incorpoate him, and become like him within ourselves.
