I run both track and cross country. CC starts at the beginning of the year. We have our first meet like a week after school starts. CC isn't running on a track you actually run on the road, up and down the hills that come with it, or in the woods and it's a longer distance than what you would run in track.
Track starts in the spring and has a lot of different running distances and events. There's everything from a 100 to a 3200.
When I train for CC I do different workouts. I do endurance workouts where I run a bunch of hills and do a lot of distance. I also do speed workouts where I run as fast as I can for about 2.5 miles. Track is harder to train for. I do relays, sprints and distance so I have to work on endurance, getting out of blocks, and speed.
Lift weights or go swimming as much as you can . It will help a lot with cardiovascular.
Hope I helped. Good Luck!

Cross Country tends to be more of a long distance based running. Varsity Boys are usually 3.1 miles and Sophomore Boys are usually 2. I'm not sure about the girls though. Track & Field is a mixture of field events (i.e. shot put) and track events (i.e. 100m dash). The longest distance run by a single person in Track & Field is 2 miles. Cross Country is usually in the Fall/Winter while Track & Field is usually in the Spring. Start your training for Cross Country doing some long distance jogging in the morning; about 2 miles, 1 if you're new. Training for Track depends on what events you're interested in. Ask your coach. Good Luck with whichever you choose. Maybe even both! I know I did. Cross Country League Champs Baby!

man of all the easy questions to answer...nobody has done it right so far...cross country or "xc" or "cc" or even just "cross" takes place in the fall and in most states, races and meets are held at a distance of 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles. these days, the girls run about as much as the guys in race distance. the races are almost all held on grass and will take place in rain. many xc races contain mud. there is typically little pavement on a course. to train for that start inthe summer (now) and get a lot of base mileage, maybe 20-30 miles a week for a first timer. start out slow and increase no more than 10-15% each week. throw in a tempo run (a quicker paced run) once a week. for a beginner that should be ok.
track and field is in the spring (usually early april to late may) and all events are held around the track. to train for that, all depends on what event you are doing. there are different events ranging from sprinting(100 meter) to distance (3200 meters) to throwing (shotput) to jumping (long/high jump). i couldn't tell you how to train but if its for distance do about the same as for cross but throw in some speed work. maybe 10x200s at :35-:40 if you're a girl.
hope this was helpful.

Cross Country is running 3.5 miles on different surfaces which is normally in the Fall. Track and field is a whole bunch of different types of events. Theres pretty much three groups: Running, Jumping, and Throwing. This starts in the Spring. Also in the winter. I don't know how you would train since you didnt specify on what you were going to do since track has so many different types of events. But lifting is always good and running different types of lengths is always good.

Cross country is part of track and field. Track and field include other events: dashes or sprints, distance runs on a track, and marathons, among others.
Talk to the track coach at your school or a school near you for training advice. My only advice is do NOT scrimp on shoes. Buy really good ones.

A ton of little ones recently try not basic to look "emo" because of the fact they think of curiously cool. If somebody is making an attempt to look emo or regardless of, they purely come during as immature childrens searching for interest. Emo is in many cases purely a clothing type related to dark colours and piercings. they don't have suicidal concepts any greater than human beings. Emos are in many cases youthful young ones desirous to get interest. actual goths easily stick to the gothic faith and positioned on all black, with black hair. by no potential heard of juggalos! And now that we are older we comprehend how dumb and immature we've been. i've got discovered my lesson the not basic way! desire I helped. Have an excellent week
