My boyfriend and i have been dating for 3 months and recently he came to me and said i am falling in love with you, he then clarified that there was a different between i love you and i'm falling in love with you. I asked him to explain further altho this was through email bc i was too shocked by the intial word of love and he has not emailed me back his thoughts about the difference between "i love you" and "i'm falling in love with you" what are ur thoughts of the two? different or the same?

Falling in love means that he is liking what he is seeing in you. It is basically puppy love. I love you means that the person loves everything about you and accepts you for who you are. It also means that they would do anything in the world for you. Now that's what I call love. That's so sweet of him

He is testing the water, and be kind on his verbiage as he may be confused. He has deep feelings for you and was testing the waters of your reply.
Which on one hand is a nice sign that he thinks he has these feelings for you, yet on the otherhand in thi day and age people throw around the word, "love" way too much.
But hey, don't ride him on this one. If he has a response than great, otherwise, drop it. Don't push, otherwise you will get an insincere answera out of discomfort.
The last thing you need is dis-honesty or discomfort. He tried to open up, perhaps misguided or mis-worded, but don't hold his feet to the fire. The real feelings wil come out in time, in person.

My girlfriend told me the same thing. I interpreted "I love you," as she deeply cares about me. I think "falling in love," is when you can't stop thinking about your significant other. They're basically in your head 24/7. You constantly have that butterflies in your stomach feeling when ever you see them for the first time a certain day. That person that you're falling in love with is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

There is a HUGE difference between 'falling in love' with someone and just 'loving' them ... and the BEST RELATIONSHIPS have 'both' ... the partners 'love each other' (unconditionally, usually) ALL the time, and 'fall in love' with each other over and over and over again.

FALLING in love means he can see himself loving you in the very near future. Its different and not as if he actually said he loved you. Just that he could envision it later on down the road..

to me, i would interpret that as:
I love you means i care about you, kinda like how you would love your mom or dad
Im falling in love with you is when you love someone on a more intimate level.
But only he knows what HE meant. ask him again

your mom loves you, but she is not "falling in love" with you. when your boyfriend said he loves you, but he's not falling in love with you, maybe he meant he loves you as a very very close friend, he cares about you so much, but he's not falling for you, he doesn't feel sparkle between you 2.
