Of course! Mustangs are not a "hot" item anymore and no longer sell for anywhere near MSRP (sticker price). You can very likely get one at or close to invoice price, plus any rebates (I believe there is currently a $1000 rebate for it nationwide).
Just check http://carsdirect.com in your zip code -- they will quote you a binding, real world price quote through their automated system. Carsdirect is essentially a broker/middleman (i.e. they are not an actual dealer, they simply work with local dealerships across the country, selling cars on their behalf for a commission), so any dealership in the area should at least be able to match their price.
If your dealership won't, then simply buy the car through Carsdirect (my sister bought a car through them and was very happy with the experience). I can't imagine the dealership is giving you THAT good a deal on the trade-in (or very likely, it is contingent on you buying the new car at sticker, which is WAY more than you should be paying).

Dream on folks...... The dealer will probably discount the car some.... not much. Currently on Kbb the new car blue book is about 200.00 Less than sticker. Don't expect the salesman or the dealership to work for free and the "no one pays sticker" arguement doesn't hold weight, for instance the window sticker on the Shelby Mustang GT500 is 45K but the going price is around 60,000.00! Be prepared for your 600/month car payment wether its 31k or 28k thats what the payment is at 60 months assuming you have great credit! Also, don't try to get some huge discount on a Black on Black manual transmission, it WONT happen. REAL prices are REALLY listed at KBB.com new car blue book. All of you want to discuss the best "discount" but none of you have any idea what that price actually means. Bottom Line: ENJOY your 600.00 car payment!

Absolutely. If you know anyone that works at Ford or it's associated companies get them to give you their friends discount. It's a set price and so much easier than haggling for it.
Otherwise, send me a message with the feature set of that GT and I'll see what the employee discount is on the car. You can then haggle with some knowledge to back you up.

dealers should always come down on the sticker. no one pays sticker. you should take off whatever you are willing to pay.
set a reasonable price you're willing to pay say 27k or 28k. tell what you think you should pay and if they don't come down as much as you want walk away. If you walk away they might give you the price you want. or when talking to them tell them you're looking at a used corvette for 27k or 28k "or whatever you want to pay" but you really want a mustang but if they can't match or beat the price of the "vette" walk away.

Go to Edmunds.com and you can find the dealer cost and negotiate from this price. If you offer them $100.00 over their cost, you will find a dealer that will do it.

Wouldn't hurt to ask. Invoice is not what they actually pay. Works better at larger volume dealers however.
