Here is a site that rates dogs at how good they are with children. I hope it is of some help.

I have a Beagle and an APBT that are just great with kids. When my daughter brought my one month old grandson over for the first time she sat him on the floor in his carrier. The Pit, Honey, went over to check him out and just laid down next to him and stayed there for the hour he was there. She would not leave his side.

I have a Bichon and she seemed to be a great dog. I don't think I spelled that right but any ways my dog is small does not shed, easy to train. Some are small dogs to med size. The down side is my dog needs to be groomed every few months, I have groomed her once, big mistake she looked like I put her threw the grinder, My neighbor asked me if I trimmed her and I said no my husband did, Please don't tell him I said that. LOL. Good Luck with your new dog.

My friend has a golden retriever and when kids come to visit they can pull its ears and tail, jump on it, step on it, etc. and it doesn't bite, growl, or bark. They love little kids because the kids love to cuddle and play with them. The kids give them attention so the Goldie won't be bothering you AS MUCH for attention. Although they can NEVER get enough attention. Those are straight from a Golden's mouth! Hope this helps!

Any breed if experienced properly may well be suitable in spite of youthful young little ones. inspite of the undeniable fact that, Golden and Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Boston Terriers, Pugs, Schnauzers, Wippets, Westies and a few extra have been reputed for being suitable kin canines. in spite of the undeniable fact that they are able to additionally be stable, Akitas and Chows are reputed to not be stable with young little ones.

I would go to a shelter, they have pure and mixed breed dogs.
The people there will answer your questions and help you look at the different types of dogs that will suit your lifestyle.
You could take your family and decide together.
I'm personally fond of terrier/mix
Good luck

I grew up with Boxers and I would suggest that breed to anyone with a family. Those dogs were better guardians than my human ones. Definately consider a boxer dog! :)

get a bichon..they are cute, loving and good family pets.

But also you can get whatever breed of dog you like, as long as it is a puppy.Because as it grows up it will learn to love little kids. If it was around them. Make sure the kids are nice to it though. Otherwise it will remember when it was little and kid were mean to it,so it wont trust them and may bite and be mean

If i where u i would get a mini Shelti basically because we had one named Molly and she like to be 19 yrs. old and she was the best dog you could have ever asked for. But my step dad is a vet and he always tells people that a mini Shelti is a good dog to have because their breed is meant to please people. He said no matter how old the are they will listen to what ever u say. they are very good dogs.
