I see you have many answers giving the age one. Mine is a completely unsupported answer but whenever anyone says toddler to me, I look for a child older than one; usually between 18 months and 2 1/2 years is what I think of as toddlers.

Personally, toddlers are the ones what wiggle to be put down, don't want to stay in a push chair, stand on the furniture, use the word "no" with commitment, bring outside inside, and visa versa - you'll know when you get there.

I think it's at one year, as that's the average when most kids are "toddling". At around one year that's when most of the ad materials in the mail for my oldest son changed from 'baby' to toddler'.

I think they're 'newborns' for the first two months, 'infants' until they're like 6 months, 'babies' until they're one. Whether they walk or not, I think they're 'toddlers' once they turn one.

I would say when they are upright and starting to use small one to three word descriptions. I told my kids they were not babies anymore when we got rid of the pacifiers.
But you know they will always be our "babies" even when their 40. lol
