He's a soldier. He should have thought of this before he signed the contract. I hope he enjoys his stay in Levenworth prison. Too bad our politically correct society no longer uses a firing squad for people like him.

As for the comment of pinche_bush above, I was in 2 wars and my son is preparing to go to Iraq in August. I hate this war and never supported it. None the less, my son is a soldier and going to war is his job, just as mine once was.

Truth is often in the ear of the hearer & someone has bad ear wax.
The United States goverment since 1776 have always called him a traitor. If you do not want to be a soldier - don't volunteer. Once you volunteer, you have no right to pick & choose you duties. Did you get to choose what papers to write or math problems to do? At work do you get to say - hey I do not like to do the quarterly taxes so I am not doing it.

Traitors can be shot during war time but I prefer the 20 years of hard labor.

I know some people believe they are being patriotic by being against the war, but soldiers do not & should not have that luxury. They agreed to defend the Constitution against foreign & domestic enemies (a lot on those on here) plus to follow the President of the USA as Commander in Chief.
It is the oath he took, so he needs to pay the penalty for breaking his oath.

curiously the forces of the west have secured peace and stability interior the a tactics or close to east. Why they concept that this grow to be the final time to do it relatively is a diverse count all at the same time. the fact that there is not any lasting peace interior the east isn't significant curiously. the authentic reason is the Bilderberg team of which many western leaders which incorporate bush, blair and clinton are contributors. This communities quest for a sparkling international order, One international government and worldwide autonomy mandatory to stability the means between the midsection eastern oil production and that of the mexican or lesser oil generating international places. Oil is the biggest commodity this planet has and any instability between competing manufacturers would have financially shifted the seat of world means. the present scenario with the oil leak in bp`s field and the ending up of the armed profession of the midsection and close to east is only the top of the iceberg. BP are ploughing tens of millions into their south american operation. The fact of achievable greater exploration interior the north sea is greater evidence of the means oil holds.

It's not courageous at all.

I'm against the Iraq war and all, but the US military is voluntary. He shouldn't have done that. It's not like he was forced to join like some Americans in Veitnam. He signed the papers and made a decision that will impact his life forever. He can't go back on his word. Now, he has wasted tax payers dollars for the useless training he has recieved (because he refuses to go), and will go to jail because of it. He could've avoided it all together by not joining.

Nope. He has 'laid down his weapon in the face of the enemy' and is subject to a court martial. He is a coward and a traitor.

As an E4, he obviously enlisted AFTER this war started. He has NO excuse for his sudden belief in it being unjust. Moreover, soldiers are not afforded the decision as to which war is just. Soldiers must accept that the American people chose the person (president) they believed in to make such choices. We vote, but we follow the orders of the person chosen by the American people regardless of whether we voted for is chosen.

He shouldn't have raised his right hand and took the oath if he had no intention of carrying through on it. The oath says nothing about picking and choosing what you will fight for, you agree to fight against all enemies, foreign and domestic and agree to obey the orders of the President and all officers appointed above you. Courage isn't the absence of fear, but acting even though you're scared.

If you are a member of the United States military you follow the lawful orders of the president and those appointed over you. The military does not have political objections; they follow the person America voted into office. Essentially that's what democracy is, the president is the representative of what the US wants and the goal of the military is to carry out the military will of the US.

Partison Politics have NO PLACE IN THE MILITARY. They signed up to fight America’s fights regardless of political or even immoral objections. It's up to the civilian sector to determine the morality of a war, it's up to the military to best carry out the will of the nation.

I have a friend whose been in the army 23 years; when he deployed he disagreed but he went because it was his duty, when he deployed to Somalia he disagreed but he stayed cause his country sent him there, when he went to Iraq the second time he disagreed but he stayed because that's what his country wants. There are no indivuals in war.

God Bless and Good Luck

As far as I'm aware, there hasn't been a draft or conscription lately. I believe everyone in the military is there voluntarily. If a person enlisted, he/she should be able to understand what military service entails. Anyone in the military that refuses combat is either an idiot for being in the military in the first place, or a.......nope, just an idiot.

If you get a degree in electrical engineering and want a job designing electrical devices, you wouldn't go apply at a law firm would you? And, then if you got hired, be upset when they asked you to go to trial or other legal stuff? If you sign up to get paid to do a certain job, do the job. To avoid any potential confusion, DON'T SIGN THE DOTTED LINE.

Uh if he said that he would not go then that is his choice. The Army is then within their choice to either boot him out with a dishonorable discharge or put him in jail and then boot him out. He did volunteer after all.
