me and a few other online users have found sweet relief with this. i wrote a whole big thing on it earlier. i take 21st century st johns wort. ive had depression my whole life, did the whole pill doctor thing, now cant afford that. so i tryed st johns wort. i take 2 in the morn,it works fast. my racing mind quieted down, i am more confident, can deal with the most stressful things now. have more energy, less stress, and sleep better. and there arent any side effects.try it. and for those who have your opinions, think about this, have you ever actually been depressed? because if not, quit telling people what you think you should do when youve never experienced it. im trying to help people.
remember. everyone is different so it may work, it may not. just like any prescription. so try it you never know. i just dont want people to feell like i have. what works for me may work for someone else. take every day. if you stop your old feelings come back fast. it dosnt stay in your body long.

For some people it takes several weeks to work: there is a good deal of info on this, and depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 2, including a website devoted to it, and when to stop taking it, and why, and alternatives. Also, it may well be ineffective in clinical (severe) depression.

I used to take gingko biloba all the time and a lady in my office used to take St John's Wort and each of us gave the other a capsule of our stuff and BOTH of us were sort of buzzing the rest of the day.

Don't mix gingko biloba and St John's Wort. I think it can cause blood pressure issues.

Not fun.

I took St. John's Wort for a month and had terrible stomach aches. I went back to Paxil.

St. John's Wort works only for very mild depression. For major clinical depression, SJW is probably about as effective as Smarties or M&Ms.

But there is a side effect. You have to stay out of the sun because your skin will get blochy and it takes a little time to work because it has to work into your system.

It is a cheaper alternative. I have used it off and on. I did have a psychiatrist tell me it would not work as well because the dosages vary from pill to pill. I didn't believe him, and used it anyway.

I understand firsthand that it only works for a few weeks at best, and you can get a rash.
