Isn't this our right as a democracy to tell the government when they are wrong and to act when they don't comply? Would a petition be needed.

Lets overthrow the government and start from scratch.

So many saying the U.S. isn't a democracy. Wow-every elected leader says differently.

Never. It won't work that way. We need elected reps who will honor and repect the contitution, not change it. I keep trying to help elect the right ones. And I write fax and call my reps all the time about issues I have with them. That's about all anyone can do and stay out of jail.

When is the right time? Hmm, perhaps when we stop having regular elections. Perhaps when someone declares themself President or Senators for life and has the means to follow through.

At present, we have a WORKING REPUBLIC. We vote on a regular schedule. The PEOPLE choose representatives to make decisions for them. Those politicians are tasked with making those decisions regardless of polls, but rather under the guidance of what is best for the people, the nation and the constitution. Being sworn to protect the Constitution against all threats, foreign and domestic, I would have no problem putting down your little insurrection.

If there were a civil war every time someone didn't like the elected, we would be turned into the same kind of situation as most countries of Africa. Noone would win, except the corrupt, which would rape the people and their own followers in the name of the same people.

And if I am correct, espousing the violent overthrow of the government is actually a crime.

Why don't you espouse peaceful protest instead? That is a protected right.

Yes, CITIZENS have the RIGHT to tell the GOVERNMENT what to do or not to do. However, as with everything else in life, there is a "right" way and a "wrong" way.
Just because you don't like what the government is doing is not a reason to overthrow the govenment. Perhaps others think the govenment is doing just fine.
"coalition" is an association of nations to accomplish things.
Individuals trying to overthrow a government are "patriots" if they are successful; "traitors" if they are unsuccessful.
If from without (coalition) it is an invasion.
Like, what Mexico is doing.

First, we don't live in a democracy. We don't vote on policy matters. We live in a republic. We elect representatives to make decisions for us.

We have the chance to 'overthrow' our government every election. We don't need a petition. We have a ballot box.

(1) You can always contact your representatives and let them know that you are unsatisfied with the way things have been going lately.

(2) Why would you want to overthrow our government? Compare it to government systems across the world. Ours is the best, hands down. Okay, so you might not be happy with what is going on, but in reality, you can't satisfy everyone.

Overthrow is easy.
Look at the living examples of Palestine.
Look around at the mess created in own backyards.
Putting it back.
That the hardest thing to do.
Without the qualified ones to run it.
Look what can happen when we have all the little boys running the country.
While the dirty old men as by -standers in the streets.

We aren't a democracy, you aren't a patriot, and sedition isn't the way.

You would have us overthrow our government for your ideology? Nope.

Look around you. We have the most powerful nation in the world, one of the highest standards of living. Our poor complain when they don't have a color T.V. set, while in other parts of the world they don't have food for that week.

What silliness.

Oh, and we aren't a democracy.

Folks, always wise to follow a fool into foolishness when they show they don't even understand what sort of government we have and that they want to overthrow.

Read his other posts before you even begin to side with them so you don't embarrass yourself.

It is our right and obligation if we want to enjoy that right to tell the government what we want. That is why you vote.
Start from scratch? Do you have a better system than what we have now? I suppose you do, one that ensures your opinion is the official position of the country.

You might not like the system but it is so very much better to any of the other regimes, save a few.
