Two vital bits:

Lens or other means of focussing the light onto a recording medium.

Recording medium to record the light that falls. Everything else is folderols and fripperies.

Look at a pinhole camera.

The lense that focuses the light and an thing that it focuses it on that is light sensitive and can fix an image.
