i am sure they have good reasons for keeping you in public schools. i would talk to them and see if there is a compromise that can be reached.

First of all, your question shows that you have a good character. That is mostly the results of your upbringing. Something every child should know about parenting (remember your day as a parent is approaching). There is no book on how to raise a child. Each child is unique in every way. And, you will find that to be true about your parents as well. Both schools have advantages. However, it is the responsibility of your parents to decide which school will offer you the most advantages. This is one of those times, and seems there are always too many, that you have to hunker down and do the best with what your parents decide is best for you.

Does the Military Academy cost an arm and a lung?
Do they have the resources?
Will you be best served by all the diverse cultures you will encounter in public schools?
In the long run, I do believe that you will be a well-rounded person by interacting with every nationality and of course that is what the public school system has to offer. It is your obligation to learn no matter where you go to school.

Based from what you've told us, I believe that your parents have a good reason on why they don't want you to go to military school and just let you attend a public school.
Parents like yours, think about their children's future and well-being. They think in advance for their children and think a lot about the possible consequences their children might face should they make any major decisions or choices in life.
The thing here is, your parents 'care about you'. You might think otherwise because of their opposition towards your plan to go military school, but they're only worried of what might happen to you afterwards. I cannot blame them for thinking as such if ever. With all that is going on around in the world right now especially with all those intervention by the US in the Afghan or Iraqi conflicts, your parents as well as other parents, too wouldn't want to see their children in such in a plight- just in case.
So whatever their reason is, I believe it's a valid one. Believe that your parents only want the best for you and they're concerned with your happiness as well. In this case, why not consider talking to them? Find out what they have to say.

Maybe your parent cant afford the Military Academy because of financial reason. public school will save a lot of money, and you will be at home. Good Luck.

Maybe they assume you finally end up in military service being shot in Iraq or somewhere else? Which is quite understandable isn't it?
You can make more out of your life but servicing in the army or air force, navy and so on.

I think so. With us being in war right now, your parents are thinking along the lines that you could be drafted sometime down the line, *maybe not now but later in life*, and they'd rather not have to deal with that thought.

Is there a way you can present your argument to them without being a whiney brat? Whiney brat's don't stand a chance in a Military school, so I wouldn't waste my money either.

Your parents know the best for you. Just open your closed ears and follow to their interest.
