First thing, Do you know what state the person died in, next do you know what city they died in, next do you know what funeral home the family used, next do you know what cemetery the person is buried in, next ask the cemetery sexton where the grave is. If you do know what state, write the State Registrar of Records for a copy of the death certificate. This might cost you acouple of bucks. If you know the city, then you can find a phone book for that city and start calling the local mortuaries. If you know the mortuary, call and ask them to look up the record of what cemetery they buried the person in. With that info, the sexton will be able to help you find the grave. Good Luck! I'm a FD, so I deal with these type of questions all the time. E-mail if I can help you more

Sure...most all cemeterys have caretakes,,,just go to the caretakers house and ask,,some even have computerized information finders. In able to make sure the right person is buried in the right plots they have someone to make sure it's taken care of. And yes you have to BUY the little piece of land (plot) you will be buried on,,,unless you are cremated,,,,then there is a crypt. in any case there should be someone to help/

Try Find a Grave. You can search by the person's name or cemetery name. If you at least locate the cemetery, it may provide you with contact info. Good luck.

Yes, that's not a difficult task. They typically have someone on duty in an office building on their property, in the cemetery. If you go in and ask them, they have a map of the exact location, of all the dearly departed. They will show you exactly where they are located, for paying your respects.
