I was trying to play casino royale. I could hear all the background music but not the dialogues. However, I can hear the dialogues from other dvds. This is a new dvd I bought last week.

Dialog is usually recorded in the "center" channel.
Check your audio setup on both the DVD menu and your player.
Perhaps you set it up for 5.1 output and you are missing the center speaker. Try 2-ch stereo and it should work just fine.
