You do keep tabs don't you??? Well if I ever hurt you in anyway, please forgive me. I never meant to! And please forgive those you mentionned, your points are good, and it is sad to read... I ask your forgiveness for them too!
You have the right to your opinion and no one should bash you for it (as you should bash no one for theirs).

Some people have a bad experience with a few Christians or they read something that a christian is suppose to have said, then they group all Christians in the same category. They say all Christian are like that. I don't hate anyone. I don't go around telling people they are going to hell. Whether a person goes to hell or not is up to them. And only God can be the judge of that person. And I don't put nonbelievers down, or anybody that doesn't think like I do. I wish every one could get along too.

Well, there *are* some Christians in this forum who don't hesitate to lash out at people or tell them that they're going to Hell if they don't believe exactly the way that the person does. I'm a Christian who belongs to the Catholic Church, and I've had that very thing happen to me. It hurts to know that someone hates you simply because of your religious beliefs, and I can understand how people sometimes perceive Christians as full of hate.
Unfortunately, people do tend to focus on the vocal and angry Christians and forget about the ones like Debra M. who are loving, caring, and tolerant. I wish there were a lot more like the two of you here, and maybe the rest of the world wouldn't have such a bad opinion of us.

Those are nice sentiments and I appreciate what you are saying. But Jesus actually never said "love the sinner-hate the sin." Christians have only ourselves to blame for the way the world perceives us, because we have allowed the messages of intolerance and bigotry to drown out the messages of love, grace, peace and acceptance.

People have a steryotypical view of christians because in the media you see the christians that hate. You see the radicals, the people who protest the funerals, the people who try to take away rights from others. The truth is tho, there are many christians who are very nice people. In every religion there are the people who make all the others look bad.

I think "Christian" is getting mixed up with the way people are in general. You don't have to be a Christian to be a hater. Most people who sit and condemn others and mistreat others are deceived into believing that what they are doing is a righteous act.
Jesus ate with sinners and loved them because He JUDGED NO ONE...that is the biggest problem with people who are haters...they judge.

I heard a sermon once that said Don't base your Christianity on Christians. I took it to mean there can be a bad apple in every bunch. I have met some "Christians" that are very hypocritical and very judgmental of others. Christians are human and humans make mistakes...a lot of them, but most people's hearts are in the right place. Not all Christians hate but some haters claim to be Christians.

Jesus was a Jew. And, Christians get the reputation when the do preemptive strikes against countries and people that have no means of fighting back. They also get the reputation because some, not all, try and push the religion down others throats even after they tell them they are not interested. Further, they tend to claim all good deeds is a "Christian thing to do" as if it's not the right thing to do for other religions or atheists.

Unfortunately, I think the reality is just the opposite. The ones that you speak of bash Christians, and others for that matter who express faith in someone/something, are really the ones who don't tolerate us. They claim we don't tolerate or accept them because we state our beliefs and they feel condemned, and rightly so.
A just person trying to live out a good life, by their examples and words, will always be a reminder to these folks that they are not living the way they are supposed to live. It's not us condemning them, it's their own consciences judging them (without them realizing it) and they hate us for pointing it out. Just keep praying for them. Remember what Jesus said, "They hate you because they hated me first."

I agree. It's just that people don't see sin as sin any more. I hate alcohol for what I've seen it do to people. Do I hate alcoholics? NO. I feel bad that they chose that sin and it has destroyed their life. The only difference between me and that person is the fact that I've accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and I'm going to heaven when I die or when the rapture happens (I prefer the latter).

There are always people who just think they know a person's own heart from the group to which they belong out of pure ignorance.
They are the ones to pray for.
