both have to have faith in what they believe?

Let me clarify. Christians believe that there is a God. Athiests BELIEVE that there is no God. I fail to see that just because someone is appathetic about origens does not autmatically make a default. That is agnostic not Athiest. Either you know there is no God (which means you make a stance and actually believe something) or you have no Clue.

NO CLUE = AGNOSTIC

Let me explain faith. You are currently sitting on your butt correct? You have faith that the chair you are sitting in will continue to hold you...or do you have proof that the chair will always hold you up. You can't prove it, can you? The belief that your chair will continue to hold you up takes....yup ...faith.

I have faith only because I was not there to personally witness everything that happened in the Bible. However, with that said, there is enough proof (archeological, scientific, written documentation, etc.) that supports the Bible I have a hard time describing it as faith. It is more a willing acceptance of reality.

TRUTH doesn't require faith.

1+1 = 2

This doesn't require you to believe in it. It will never ask for your faith. It simply is.

EDIT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Posters like the OP keep me FIRMLY in the agnostic group. In your edit OP, you have to realize that there is NO DIFFERENCE between a theist and a atheist.

Both claim to know what cannot be known. Is there a god? i do not know. NO ONE KNOWS. Claiming you know there isnt removes you from the side of those claiming logic.

Until people lower the rhetoric and claims of knowing these ultimate truths can a dialog occur where real ideas are exchanged and progress can be made.

Not believing in your imaginary friend takes no faith whatsoever. You've never heard of the goddess Oskhikira. Did it take faith for you not to believe in her? Does it take faith now? Of course not.

Faith doesn't need facts. An atheist does.

I agree with the born again Shakespeare guy... truth is truth whether or not you believe it.

1+1 = 2 That's true for everyone. Believing it or not.

God is God. True for everyone. Those believing it as well as those who don't.

It takes no faith to not believe someone else's story.

No. Atheism is not arrived at by an act of faith, but by questioning faith and discovering that it has no basis in reality.
