You had to park so far away that you had to be shuttled in; and it would add another half-hour onto your already hour drive in. Yes, they are reasigning our parking places and I may have to park very far and be shuttled to and from. I could walk if I really wanted to but let me metion that I work in downtown Detroit so for safety reasons I don't think that is a good idea.

I should clarify that I do love my job but an 8 hour work day is turning into an 11 hour work day. I feel like I'm wasting hours of my life in cars and shuttles.

The total time of your commute is always a consideration in how happy you are with your job; an hour and a half total is pretty long. I have a commute that long but I have a job I like and something that's pretty unique (history theme park), there just isn't a park like that anywhere nearer my home and moving is a big hassle too. But I would not travel that long every day for a job at a store or office of which there are plenty at about a half hour's commute or less! Nor should it be too much more, if my travel time increased a lot from the train schedules changing or whatever, it would be too much.
I think it makes a lot of sense you're giving it some thought if adding another half hour to your traveling time is worth it, and while I can't make the decision for you it's not rude or stupid if you decided that no, you do not want to be on the road that long every day.

I think I reallly would consider it. Even if you are getting good pay, is it good for 11 hours work? I hope you don't have to leave often for doctor's appts., etc. That would be horrible to have to do with your car so far away.
Look around and see what is out there for you. It may turn out that you are better off where you are, but at least you will know.
Am I correct in assuming that everyone is complaining about this and that this is the best your employer can offer in terms of parking and compensation.

Start looking for a new job now. Do not quit until you have another job. Keep everything kosher and give 2 weeks notice and all that. Do not burn your bridges no matter how crappy the company is.

Find a new job, losing 3 hours a day to commuting is not living a quality life.
Good luck!

Detroit is a dying city, first and foremost. Secondly, you're devoting three hours a day to a commute. Do you have anything better to do with your life? If you can find a better job, take it.

I am ALWAYS looking for another job, and I happen to love the job I've had for the past 7+ years. If you are working for someone else, there is always room to move up!

I woud look for another job if I didnt like the job I had. I have had to shuttle, in the past. That didn't matter to me, as I liked the work I did.

Here's a saying I saw yesterday: "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted."
If the good outweigh the bad, then what the hell? I'd look for another.

You might consider asking to be compensated for the extra time they are making you take to get there. "Travel time" It's worth a try!

For me, it would depend on the pay. I would ask myself if what I am earning is worth the aggravation. If it wasn't, I'd find another job.
