My husband and his brother were partners in a business for 20 years. My husband started suspecting his brother of stealing from the company so he decides to get out of the business. The brother didn't want that , so we had to hire a lawyer We paid out 10,000 in lawyer fees just to get the junkiest pieces of equipment their was . We just didn't have the money to fight in court anymore. Now the little brother of these two has stepped up and tried to be "billy bad butt ".His brother evidently hired him on as a hit man . He has broke my husbands jaw, had me put in jail, broke my brothers nose and a whole lot more. The sherriffs office will not do anything because the one brother was a strong canidate in the last sherriffs race and has alot of pull in our small community. We have had to move to another state just to get away from these people, yet they are still going strong. This has been going on nonstop for 7 months and I honestly don't know what to do about these people. Can anyone help

Go to the state police. Hire a civil rights lawyer and sue for failing to protect you.

You are still entitled to equal protection under the law. Apparently the brothers in law are entitled to collect for more protection.

They should be charged with extortion, racketeering and go to prison for it.

If there was dereliction of duty or favoritism shown by the local police you should definitely file a complaint to the FBI-this crime is called "police abuse" Local sheriffs are not allowed to investigate complaints against themselves-the FBI does this and are far more unbiased than the locals are.

I know how you feel but, trust me, you don't have to do anything. What goes around, comes around. They will be paying for their crimes! It may not be as soon as you would like, or in the way that you would like, but believe me, their day will come. In the meantime, the best revenge is for you and your husband to be happy. If you allow yourselves to wallow in bitterness, then these people will have won. Concentrate on yourselves, on doing what makes you happy. And make sure they know how happy you are.

don't get mad get even... if that happened to my i would still be in jail and the other two would be six feet in the ground. buy a hand gun, and get a permit to carry it, or both of you carry a knife around at all times. its what i do (but i suffer from paranoia). dont take that crap from them. if the buisness is a store, have someone go in there and hurt themselves and have them sue the **** out of them. do something, because the police dont seem to be.
