Um, maybe the same reason African-Americans got "bent out of shape" for being denied the opportunity to be hired simply because they were black. How about the "No Irish Need Apply" signs in the 19th century?
What would a religious belief have to do with one's ability to operate a tow truck? In a larger sense, most jobs have a subliminal "no atheists" message, anyway. Do you think an atheist could ever be elected President? If you can't see what's wrong with this, just imagine if an ad said "No Christians need apply" and think how you'd feel about that.

I'm a Atheist and I could care less what the hiring policies are of a towing company.I have no interest in that kind of work anyway. But I do wonder how they could enforce a policy like that since anyone can claim to believe if they really want the job.

It's discrimination, but as an atheist, I really don't care. Well, scratch that, I do care. Why, I'd never get the chance to tow someone's car away and say "Hey, I'm just doing my job; blame Jesus".

I'm a Christian, and I find that kind of discrimination to be offensive. Jesus certainly wasn't that picky about who He hung around with -- tax collectors, hookers, thieves, egotists, the whole sad and sorry lot of people whose lives He changed with His love and mercy.
So why do His followers think they're better than their Lord and Savior? Not only is it discrimination, but it's also a lack of love and compassion on their part.

The world is an interesting place, full of people who do strange and inexplicable things. One of the things that always puzzles me is the people who write about atheists cannot seem to make the plural form of the noun.
Why do people do that?

It's like a private company putting 'blacks need not apply'. Sure, they can hire whoever they want. But going out of their way to show people they discriminate just makes us think that they are trying to appeal to people's sense of hatred - that's not a positive thing for any business.

Shouldn't be no reason since all the people who work for the company will be talking about Christ. And we all know how much atheist don't want to hear about Christ.
It looks like the company is trying to protect the atheist's from coming into contact with something they dislike so much.
Seriously though, they should allow an atheist to work there. Because maybe by setting an example they could show the person that there really is a God and Jesus loves them too.

And if an atheist newspaper was looking for an editor they would have to consider any Christian that might apply.

Seems strange, especially since the atheists would be overqualified to work at a towing company in the first place.

Umm its called discrimination duh.
Hmm I remember a federal labor code that said something like not being able to exclude persons based on sex, race or religion.
LOL I hope the company gets sued! Not cause they are Christians but cause they were stupid enough to actually think they could get away with that!
