What are some specific things I should put in the letter to the insurance company other than;

- feelings of depression, anxiety

They won't cover it solely due to mental anguish, or isolation. The only time I've ever seen it covered is with an grade II or > diagnosis of gynecomastia. Pain has to be significant, hormonal problems have to be ruled out. Go to your doctor.

You need at least one doctor (preferably your PCP - the one you see most often) to provide documentation of medical necessity. From there, the insurance company decides whether or not they want to pay for it. If it's not a covered benefit, you can't force them.

Male breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

get your doctor to certify that the surgery is necessary from a medical standpoint due to health reasons, If he won't then it is elective surgery and shouldnt be covered.

Unless it is medically necessary, it isn't covered by insurance.

your going to need to get doctors to say its needed medically

the insurance company will ask you what doctors you've seen and what their opinions are and will probably want you to see a doctor that they specify

Sorry, cosmetic surgery is NOT covered. It's elective. If you had man breast cancer, they'd cover it.
