If you're trying to get healthier for soccer don't worry about what you eat.

When I used to play soccer, and was pretty good at it mind you, we used to go to Carl's Jr (Junk Food) and have at least 4 famous stars each.

The main thing you want to cut out from you diet is SODA, and cut back on candy. Fast food isn't all that bad if you don't eat it all the time. Try running ALOT you'll need it

you basically have to learn how to read the back of the food lables. Of course foods high in sugar and fats aren't good (candies, cupcakes, donuts, soda, etc...)and greasy stuff......eat plenty of fruits and veggies, drink plenty of water and get REAL fruit juice not stuff from concentrate...healthier snack alternatives are peanuts, apple or banana chips, healthy choice or 100 Calorie pack cookies, those rice cake thingy's...you can have a junk food in moderation....just don't go overboard. The key is to learn how to read the back of the good label.

If it has sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour, white rice, corn products, partially hydrogenated fats, or has any ingredients you have to slow down to pronounce. Then it might just be junk food. Go to MyPyramid.gov for the new food pyramid food suggestions. You will find you can eat more food when it's healthy for you.
Good for you to take charge of your health at a young age.

I would take "junk food" to mean anything you can eat that has little or no nutritional value. Generally this eliminates most foods that taste good!

Unfortunately for you, this means eating whole foods, food that comes naturally and is not processed. Like cheese for example (eat brick cheese and not processed cheese slices), and hot dogs. Fruit, veggies, and lots of protein is what you want to eat.

Junk Foods: Stuff high in sugar and fat, like cakes, candies, ice creams, candybars, most chips.
Also, a lot of 'fast food' restaurants, their food, is high in fats.

Subway is a good alternative.

Fruits are a healthy substitute for a snack. Sunchips are way better than regular chips.

Salads! you can make them better with grilled chicken, ham, turkey in it, stuff like that!

technically if it isn't naturally occurring it's not truly good for you. healthy foods don't come in boxes or bags they are perishable except for dried foods like rice, beans, etc.

a good meal for a competitve athlete should be something similar to:

breakfast:

4 egg whites, 1 whole egg
1/2 cup whole oatmeal
1 serving fruit

lunch:
4 oz. poultry
1/2 cup cooked brown rice, bean, lentils, etc.
1 cup cooked vegetables
1 serving fruit

dinner:
4 oz fish
1 cup cooked vegetables
salad

snack:

1 cup low fat cottage cheese

* the less chemicals that you put in your body the better off you will be
