the only problem that I can see as possible is the fact that it was a drug charge. I don't believe that will cause problems but drug users were on the list of prohibited individuals at the federal level. You should be honost about it if asked

well not if you live in a free state, you do not need a permit to buy a pistol at all just go in and pay, fill out (ncic) background check and go home....in some less than free states you may have to Waite 5,7,10, or even 14 days to pick it up but a misdemeanor charge from 5 years ago for weed will only make it real hard to be a cop not buy a pistol. good luck be safe.

No only a Domestic violence petition, a stint in a psych ward and a felony will stop you from getting a gun permit.

A misdemeanor will not preclude you from handgun ownership, only a felony will. That is until they take all of our guns away......

people with felony convictions are the ones they won't sell to.

be sure to be up-front with the gun shop though just in case.
