Books tell you to be yourself and let your personality shine through in your writing. But lets say that I write about a trip that I have and write it using vivid details, sense of voice, etc..., but I only use that one experience to show a few things about me. i.e. humility, identity, frugality, overcoming bias...but I don't really convey my whole personality. I do think that I show a very personal side of myself, but I'm not really showing the whole me or my accomplishments. Is that enough?

Accomplishments matter, but what they mostly want is to find someone who does well and is determined to strive for a higher education. They want an essay that conveys your personality as well as showing that you really want to learn and that you will give 110% at being the best you can be.

A lot of what they're looking for is how you write the essay. Content matters, of course, but they want something well-written, clever, interesting.
