The part you describe is called the MULTIFUNCTION switch. Go to your local Ford dealer parts department and ask for "basic" part number 13K359 to get the part you need. This part incorporates the turn signal, wiper, hi-lo beam, and hazard lights switches, all in one assembly. Replacing this part yourself should fairly self evident. Hope this helps.

I triple that comment about the caca... The multifunction switch is a dual purpose switch that goes out from time to time... I've had ones with tilt steering wheel also pull wires from the connector that the switch goes into...

Usually however, I find a quick way to check the switch is to see if the headlights come on when I play with the switch..sometimes when you hit flash to pass, or high beams they do work...

another thing is to check the fuses going to the headlights if equipped.. and to make sure the bulbs are actually good (have seen two burnt already like that)

if you aren't a pretty good shade tree mechanic, Best to leave it alone... It reqires removal of some covers, a rod for the tilt mechanism, a torx screwdriver, removal of the ignition key cylinder and patience for the connectors...

but everytime you hit the knob to make a turn, or turn on the wipers, you are actually using a part of the switch we all talk about

Yes, it's called a multi-function switch, it works the turn signals, the flashers, high and low beams, and windshield wiper delay functions.
