Stick with regular. Eventhough rechargeables are nice because they are ecomically smart, they never last. They will eventually stop recharging then you are left with a charger and no batteries. Regular batteries are easiest because you can carry around 2 more batteries in less space then you could with a charger! Hope i was of help!

My son's Fuji really eats up batteries so we have 2 sets of recharge-ables for him. The charges seem to last longer than disposable and he, at the young age of 9, has become responsible for keeping his batteries charged. We keep a set of disposables on hand , though, in case we are out in the wilderness and there is no place to charge. Overall, when the rechargeables no longer take a charge, we will still have the charger and will just reinvest in another pair of $9 batteries -- cheaper than multiple $3 pairs in the long run. Another positive -- the same charger usually works for AA and AAA and the batteries can be used for more than the camera. (Just don't accidentally throw out the wrong batteries!)

I would never, ever recommend that you use regular AA size batteries, because they don't have enough charge in them to power a camera for very long, so are a complete waste of money.

The best (and most cost effective) option is to buy high powered rechargeable NiMH batteries (2500-2700mAh) and a charger.

Or, if you're a casual camera user, then non rechargeable lithium batteries are best because they have much more power than regular batteries...and don't lose their charge when not used for any length of time. Energizer make the excellent, e2 lithium batteries.

A lot of that is going to depend on how often you use the camera. Whether or not you use it enough to justify the added expense of rechargeable batteries and a battery charger.
