It seems god and intelligent design don't need to be proven. As long as other theories are disproven, god must be the answer. I can't count how many times I've heard people give their arguments against evolution and then, automatically assume intelligent design is correct with no evidence whatsoever backing up that claim. So why does every theory need evidence except for religious theories?

I love how people come in here with non-answers to your question, like "God is THE explanation," and "Jesus is the evidence". They answer your question indirectly, however. Religious people think religious theories don't need evidence because their minds are twisted in on themselves, so that every question comes back to the question of God, which *is its own answer* according to them. That's how you get absurd statements like, "Jesus is the evidence," as if a non-corporeal, supernatural being could constitute any sort of meaningful evidence.

Because of the rules of deductive reasoning.

"So when all other possibilities have been eliminated, the one which remains must be true"

Until it is expressly ruled out scientifically, the existence of a Creator is still a possibility. I believe that Evolution is not fact but rather a conclusion, a theory or belief based on facts. Those facts however can be interpreted in other ways. Just because a conclusion or theory is based on fact does not necessarily make the theory true. Many fictional stories are "based on a true story". A person who begins with the assumption that the universe spontaneously sprang forth without some Designer and life likewise sprang forth has the burden of proof to show how such could happen when there is absolutely no empirical data to decisively support either event happening without some outside force. In fact, both are in direct contradiction to the natural laws of physics and even evolution stumbles on the block of original DNA synthesis. DNA does not spontaneously form from inanimate matter even when all the elements are present in their most refined state, Peptides, liquid water, etc. Seeing that life currently abounds on this planet, it would seem that the conditions are more than adequate for this synthesis to take place and yet scientists can not duplicate the event. How then can you expect me to believe that sometime in the unobservable past that it occurred spontaneously? Evolution then is therefore reduced to a Belief without the final key that would make it believable, that key being original synthesis.

I think all the other theories are just to prove that intelligent design is NOT the case... because saying that God created everything is something you cant really argue with...either you believe it or you dont, and if you dont believe it it's kind of like you're knocking someone's religion if you argue it.
I dont know if that made any sense, but I guess I am trying to say that the theory of creation leaves no room for "but how?s" and scientific proof.

Christianity isn't a theory... it is a faith based on the life, works and teachings of Jesus Christ.

In other words, Jesus is the evidence.

Edit: To clarify for those who didn't understand what I said above, Jesus claimed to be God and convinced many people of that by his miraculous works and words... so since he did in fact exist... you must either accept or reject his claim to be God. It is a question that must be dealt with.

If you believe in God, then God is never an alternative.

If you don't believe in God, then God doesn't matter.

Creationism is a belief, not a science.

Answer: Find out what you believe and see how God fits into your life.

What you refer to is the 'god of the gaps' fallacy. Amazing isn't it?

God is not the alternative explanation, He is THE explanation.
Man continues to try and come up with the alternative explanations.
