African Development Bank (ADB)
Ouagadougou , Burkina Faso .
From: Mr ALI JEMES.

Dear Friend,
I Am The Manager Of Foreign Remittance And Exchange Dept At African
Development Bank (ADB). Burkina- Faso, West Africa .
In my department we discover an abandoned sum of Usd$12.6m Dollars
(Twelve
Million, Six Hundred Thousand Us Dollar). In an account that belongs to
one
of our foreign customer who died alongside with his entire family in a
plane
crash the year 2001 that took the whole life of the passengers on
board.
Since we got information about his death, the bank have been expecting
his
next of kin to come over ait unless someone applies for it as next of
kin or
relation to the deceased
nd claim his money because the bank cannot release
as indicating in our banking guideline, but unfortunately we learnt
that all
his supposed next of kin or relation that knows about the account
information died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody
behind
for the claim.
It is therefore upon this discovery that I now decided to make this
business
proposal to you and for the money to be release to you as the next of
kin or
relation to the deceased, since nobody will ever come for it, we do not
want
this money to go into the treasury of the bank as unclaimed bill or
fund.
The bank law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained
unclaimed after six years, the money will be transferred into the bank
treasury account as unclaimed fund. The request of foreigner as next of
kin
in this transaction is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a
foreigner and a citizen cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner.
In subsequent disbursement of the money, I agree that 40% of this money
will
be for you in respect of the provision you made by standing in the
claim as
next of kin,10% will be set aside for expenses in cure during the
transaction on taxes that will arise and 50% would be for me.
As soon as the money hit into your account I will come over to your
country
for disbursement according to the percentages indicated above.
To make the claim, you will first of all apply to the bank by sending a
text
of application which I will send to you for you to fill and send to the
bank. In the application you will indicate your bank account, your
private
fax and your private telephone number for easy and effective
communication.
Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by email the text of
application which you will send to the bank. I will not fail to bring
to
your notice that this transaction is hitch free and you do not
entertain any
atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the
success of
the transfer.
You should contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter.
Hoping to hear from you immediately.

Are you seriously stupid enough to fall for that crap? If you believe that, I have a beautiful time share to sell you for the bargain price of 5 million dollars.

I would say that your friend loves you. I you are an atheist and proud of that, then you must be ready to take the consequences of how others feel about the shape of the world and the role that individuals play in it. Example: In the last few days there have been a lot of jokes and even demands for punishment of George Bush. Well, since we are not gods and do not have access (nor should we) to the things that a US President has available to them, then how do we know that he didn't actually prevent some very serious terrorist threats from occurring that would have made 911 look like child's play. The point here is that there are a lot of different views in the USA and that is one reason that we are the Greatest country on earth. I do not see people die (literally) to get into any other country than that USA. As for your friend, they are concerned about you and think that you need to understand that there are many ways of looking at things.

Firstly, I'm confused as to why you ask this question specifically of Christians and athiests. Secondly, I am familiar with this con. It came to light in New Zealand here on a TV programme called Fair Go. This old woman had to give her entire savings to this supposed bank in order to get this money. When the producers of the show tried to contact the bank the man they spoke to claimed that the money the old lady sent to them was to pay for administration costs and stuff. She has not seen or heard anything since and she is now practically destitute. I realise we all have to make a living somehow but it shouldn't be at the expense of others misery. To me, these con artists are no better than drug dealers selling crack on street corners to kids. As long as they line their pockets they don't give a stuff about who they trample on or how many lives they stuff up in the process. I personally can't believe that people still fall for some of these pranks but sometimes they pick on naive elderly people by promising them wealth and everything and just leave them in the lurch with even less than they started with. It makes me angry. Naivety isn't a crime and if you're desperate and on the bread line then you make yourself a target to scum like this.

it has nothing to do w/ r&s but it is a scam that has been pulled on the elderly. In order to to the "funds transfer" then they will need your electronic transfer number from your bank account and then they take all your money out. If you do not have a bank account then they ask for 2000 for a "good faith fee". Its all a scam.

Hoax.
I get at least one a week.
The return e-mail is no good.
If they were serious they would send you a check, wait till it clears and then ask for the money less the fee.
But if it is too good to be true, it usually is.
Some even get your account number and take money from your account. By th time you notice it is too late.

A version of the Nigerian banking scam. An oldy but a goody. It is a legend, which, while being so well known, still manages to extract money from the gullible.

A person looking for an easy mark. Why would you post that question in the R&S section? Are you looking for attention from a religious fanatic to tell you its a test from G-d, or do you want an Atheist to tell you what you want to hear?

Yes it is a scam.

They will probably tell you, that they need money to get it out of the country or some other reason why you need to come up with some cash.
