The important thing is that you do not OBSESS about your numbers.

Don't JUST count calories....check www.mypyramid.gov - have veggies and fruits and exercise 30min 4times a week and you should be fine =)

It depends hugely on your metabolism, but it sounds like you're taking the right steps. 1200 calories a day is a pretty strict regimen, but at your age and height it's probably OK. Cutting out the soda is really smart, and your dentist will approve too!

Things to keep in mind:

1) If you can control what you snack on and make sure it's healthy, it's even better to have 3 very small meals and 3 snacks rather than just 3 larger meals. The more you space out your eating, the easier it is for your metabolism to convert food directly into energy without putting it into storage (fat).

2) You may not lose any weight immediately. Sometimes you can eat well and exercise for a whole month and not see results. But at a certain point it'll just start to happen, and it'll happen fast. So, don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away.

Good luck!

not much if anything at all - you have to eat to lose and that has to be more than 1200cal/day (thats how much you need when you are in coma).
cardio is the only fat burning exercise. 10min is not enough. jumping jacks is not even exercise - its a waste of time.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

So you've decided that you're going to do it.Millions have tried before you and most of them have failed miserably at reaching their weight loss and diet goals. Many people just go and hope on a diet or weight loss program without knowing exactly where they are from the start.Without knowing where you started, you won't be able to accurately gauge your progress. Not being able too see that progress put you at an extremely high risk. When losing weight in a HEALTHY manner, you should NOT lose more than 2 to 3 pounds per week. So...if you lost 3 pounds per week, you should weigh about 144 by August 1 and about 132 by the time school starts back.

Your plans sound fantastic just as long as you stick to them.
If you don't mind, I'll like to suggest a few more exercise ideas just in case you get bored with your own program (this is called "cross-training"):

1. Going for 45 minute walks (brisk walks...arms swinging (not wildly) as you walk)
2. Swimming
3. Dancing for about 30 minutes to really fast music (play the music and dance in the privacy of your own bedroom)
4. Bicycle riding (30 minutes or more)
5. Unless you're running your dog, walking your dog is not really vigorous enough for weight loss (sorry).

As far as foods go, I would also like to add a couple of my personal tips:

Use "Light" bread instead of regular bread. Light bread is only 40 calories per slice and regular bread is 80 calories per slice. Instead of using sugars, use Splenda--it taste jiust as good except it has ZERO calories. Exchange regular soda pops for diet ones. For snacks try sugar free popsicles, apples, oranges, pears.

NEVER let yourself get too hungry
NEVER leave the house hungry
NEVER go grocery shopping while hungry

If you allow yourself to get too hungry, you usually make unwise choices in food. Same thing goes if you go grocery shopping while being hungry

If you leave the house hungry, you can be easily tempted to grab something like a McDonald's Big Mac, order of fries, regular coke and an apple pie which is more than 1500 calories in one whop! (that's more than your 1200 calorie limit)

Check out the website below for more helpful tips. Please follow all the links. You'll find something interesting, and userful, iin all of them

Good luck!
