HUH?? It's a possibility? The vet said that?? Why wouldn't they test him if they thought it might be parvo?? They wouldn't want you spreading disease, they would want to do a test and see what it is..
Parvo isn't such a non chalant type diagnosis.. It's not like the flu.. I cannot imagine a vet would just say that it's a possibility... You didn't really go to the vet did you??

Our dog had similar symptoms when she had pancreatitis. This usually happens if they have gotten into some really fatty people food (or in our case, the whole bag of cat food). She wouldn't eat and was vomiting all over the place. We took her to the vet where they put her on IV fluids and she made it through. It was scary though. I say head to a different vet, especially if yours thought parvo might be a possibility and didn't run the test for it. A dog with parvo can spread the disease very quickly. I volunteer with a humane society and have seen it first hand. Good Luck!

Did the vet run a parvo test? Vomiting is usually the first sign of parvo seen. Is he acting happy and alert? They are also very depressed and just lay around with parvo. Did your dog receive his entire series of puppy shots (at least 3 boosters)? If so, then parvo is unlikely. Is he on heartworm prevention? HW prevention usually deworms as well. If not, he could have worms. Maybe he ate something he shouldn't have--this is very common in pups his age. Your vet should really run more tests and look into this. Did he give him medicine?

Has your dog had his shots? If not, Why didn't your vet run a test for Parvo? Did he prescribe any medication or provide any treatment? If not, you need to get another vet. If your dog had his puppy shots I doubt it is Parvo but if he hasn't you now know why shots are so important.

It is also possible that your dog just has an upset stomach. Try feeding him some baby rice cereal and see if his stomach settles down. If he won't eat at all, get another vet. If this IS Parvo, your dog could lose his life.

Parvo and other similar viruses are almost always accompanied by bloody diarrhea. Sounds to me like he might have an intestinal blockage. That very often causes vomiting and not eating. Pit bulls and Rotties and Labs are often walking garbage cans that will eat almost anything - balls, rope toys, even rocks.

Have a stomach/abdominal x-ray done immediately. If he has a blockage, he'll need surgery to save his life. If your own vet didn't consider that, I'd consider getting another vet. Good luck and I hope he's okay - I love Pits!

Did the vet do a fecal test? That's the only way to be sure. Drinking water is a good sign, but it could just be in the beginning stages. I'd go with what your vet says.
