once i realized i need to make permanent changes in my diet and exercising habits to get permanent results i lost weight and i am more healthy than ever.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

First of all, you need to be ready. Not just say your ready, but really ready.
I lost almost 50 pounds, I started out at 205 pounds (about 25-28% bodyfat), I'm 5'9 by the way.
I went to a trainer 3x a week for weight training and he gave me a meal plan that was balanced. No cutting carbs (but having complex carbs instead) like all these poor dieters do. I had1200 calories, but as a female you should cut down to about 1000, and dont go under. Include protein in every meal, if you dont, you will lose muscle and you will get even heavier after your diet. Eat every 2-3 hours, no carbs after 6PM, no fruits if your really serious. Drink a ton of water, and have a lot of salad to fill you up (be careful with the dressing, just use vinegar or lemon juice.
I did cardio 4-5 times a week for 45min-1hour, do not do more than 4-5x a week, and dont do more than an hour, you wont really benefit. ((and when I say cardio, im not talking about walking on a flat treadmill, if you want to lose any weight, you better be sweating like crazy everytime. I run so hard that I want to barf a lot of the times, so put some effort in.))
Once again, I did weight training 3x a week with a trainer and twice a week on my own. Now I do it 5x a week with a trainer and once a week on my own. Women should be doing weight training too, no excuses, just do it.
What got me down to my goal was actually my friend. He started out weighing more than me (220 lbs) and he became very muscular using the same trainer and doing the cardio + diet. Also I saw weight loss which kept me going, 3 pounds a week I was losing (now its more like 1 because theres little left) but I almost have a 6 pack. Anyways, it isnt easy, you have to make sacrafices (I dont go out with my friends when they drink, I dont eat except at very few places, etc...), good luck

I lost 28 pounds about 2 years ago by basically cutting out refined cards (white bread, candy bars ect.) and I also counted my calories to make sure i had no more than 1200 a day and the weight literally fell off. I did combine it with some light exercise which helped and didn't take up much time, I usually walked to work and back everyday.
On a sunday i'd allow myself a treat so I had something to look forward to and I wasnt depriving myself of anything.
I'm wanting to lose a little more this year and I have a little post it note of encouragement on my desk with a picture of Scarlett johanssen on (she's my goal weight) so every time I consider heading to the candy machine I have something there to tell me NO!
Hope this helps and good luck =]

forget diets, supplements, or the biggest hype you hear. the best solution to weight loss is living a healthy lifestyle consisting of eating organic foods and low-calorie snacks and being physically active. after a lifetime of fast foods, fried snacks, sodas, and living on the couch, my 5'7 body reached a whopping 220 lbs. (which is considered obese for my height).
so i gave up fried foods and carbonated/caffeinated drinks and ate more organic foods. the first week was the hardest, i kept telling myself what the hell was i getting into. but the more you practice it, it comes to you naturally. i still eat some sweets (i just cannot give up chocolate), but i do it in moderation like once a week or every 2 weeks. the greatest benefits of organic eating is that you detox all the bad stuff out of your body and start repairing damaged cells, especially when you eat rich antioxidants. the saying was right, you are what you eat.
on the physical aspect, i recommend working out at least 2 times a week. running, walking, or any kind of cardio is great for melting body fat (the biggest misconception about abs is that crunches will flatten your stomach, NOT TRUE...it strengthens and builds your abdominal muscles and provides back support which lowers back pains. BURNING CALORIES IS WHAT WILL SHRINK THAT BELLY, hence cardio comes to good use. a good half hour of that should be reasonable. it also wouldn't hurt to do some strength training, not to be a bodybuilder, but to get the blood flowing and also work every muscle in your body there is.
So far I've been doing this for 4 months and have been able to drop over 20 lbs, and went down a size (from 36 to 34 in pants, and from XXL to L in tops).

Do lots of cardio. Running 30 minutes a day. If you cant do that start out walking and then when you start getting used to it jog. The most important thing is to not hope that you see results fast. it takes a while to lose weight. I only lost 1 pound and i do cardio and weight training 5 days a week for 4hrs

exercise. i did it by running, mostly sprinting. fortuantely, i never had to lose any weight so when i did it was a nice surprise. not only that but running makes spunky and more aware (i'm never lethargic... only tired, but never sleepy.) and i also ONLY eat three meals a day (or less sometimes.) i don't keep food in my house. i notice that i start to gain weight when i have food in my house. look up the "no S" diet. It's for life.

eat right no junk food, eat salads when you go out to eat, and no more sugary foods, start by no sugar for 1 month, then slowly bring it back in until you eat it every weekend, but not too much, and exercise, i ran alot and lost 70 lbs in 6 months.
Good Luck
