I was just wondering if Bush has the authority or power to serve another term.

He can only server two terms, and as of now he does not have the power anymore to declare himself monarch.

No way, thank God for that!! Only way he could have served any more is if he had come into the presidency in mid term of a president that had been assassinated and then only another two years would have been added. I think he has done enough damage for ten terms, much less two that he has had. Need to get someone in there that will do some good for a change instead of all the good only for other countries.

What!?! The President doesn't have the power to do that! Bush couldn't even start the war without authorization from congress... he can't 'declare' anything without having the support of many people and the law.

only congress can declare war but the constitution is unclear on how to do it. the president can declare a state of marshal law and congress can vote to disband until the emergency is over, thus making the president a dictator for a certain amount of time before congress reconvenes. there is an old movie called "Shadow on the Land" (1968) which addresses that scenario

There is no declared war to start with.

Since the two term provision has only been in existence since the late forties it has never been challenged by that situation. There is no provision in the Constitution to extend the two term limit though

I might want to do something drastic if that were the case. The man should be impeached.

Oh my god. 3 Trillion dollar war? Economic Depression? Unprecedented job loss and unemployment? A massive education and healthcare crisis? A completely uncalled for and failed war, which the country was 'dooped' into? A possibly devastating energy crisis? This country needs change, now. The exit of Bush and his hooligans is the FIRST step, bringing all troops home from Iraq is the SECOND step to bringing real change to this country. Shenanigans stop now.

No. Presidential term limits are set in the Constitution and Bush cannot change that with an executive order.

Cannot and will not. There is a 2 term limit and he doesnt have enough friends in congress to repeal that law.

What's that got to do with the price of tea?
And if that is what he planned on doing, you would see "polls" on every station claiming that most Americans support another term.
