are actually MORE accepting of me and my christian beliefs than some of my fellow christians? i'm talking about christians who are of different denominations who narrow-mindedly see things they way THEY want to see them....and can't see things from other people's perspectives at all.

to some atheists, i guess it's no big deal since they aren't religious, so they don't care...but there are actually some christians out there who believe in the same God as me who judge me even more, just because i may not see things exactly the way they do

anyone else feel this way sometimes? people can be pretty close-minded.

note i said SOME...,not all. i have many, many, many good christian friends, just saying we christians have our fair share of close-minded people, too...we shouldn't act like we don't.

I am a christian, but I am very respectful and accepting of other's beliefs. You just reminded me of the funniest thing! It's a clip of an act by Dane cook, and watch this. It is SOOO funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L0G1DGCWwI

I've often said, the hardest road here would be that of the liberal Christian. And they're my favorite people on here.

You're not alone tho! There is Keri Gee, Dog Sneeze, and many others. Please stay and just nod and politely back away from those who judge.

There is a really interesting study done on "being able to see something from someone elses point-of-view." It is a certain kind of intelligence that some people lack. If I find info on it, I'll revisit this and post a link here. Fasinating stuff!

I was raised in a Christian household, and I'm now Pagan. Many of my Christian friends find it very interesting that I can actually sit there and quote scripture and know what I'm talking about. Some of them are not so understanding of my own beliefs, but they realize that it's my choice to make.

Anywho, random rant. Sorry.

I agree with you, the majority of the Athiests I have come in contact with are accepting of other's beliefs, as am I. (I am of no religion, nor am I athiest.) It seems as though those Christians you speak of are completely contradictory. "God loves all no matter what", and they go around telling others they are wrong, and they are going to hell for it. I appreciate the people that are like " I don't believe what you do, but you can believe what you want!"

Because we are. *Winks* And most of us have actually read the Bible, unlike many Christians I know.

This is why we are atheists. I respect your right to believe. I believe that there is an energy in this world that is an immeasurable constant (the 'spiritual' side of me) but I can no more prove it to you than to myself. No person, no 'spirit', just an energy in nature. I feel it. I do not wish to diminish to something fininte by naming it. I don't even know that I'm right.

You're right though! We do like you, when your beliefs don't condemn those not like you.

As a human being to another human being, I respect your views on life. I won't guarantee that I will agree with them, but part of walking your own path means that you'll wind up with different conclusions. I'm sure I disagree with plenty of other Atheists on several matters, as far as that goes. But so long as no one is trying to force their beliefs into other people's lives, I have no stake in it one way or the other.

That's because we like you for who you are, not about the feelings of a supreme being. (Yes, a lot of Christians are very closed-minded, but then again, a lot of them appear to be 12-year-old trolls.)

Hence fundamentalism teaches absolute belief and closed mindedness, leading to ignorance:

Fundamentalist - That's not true because (insert deity) says so.

Atheist - Sure, tell me your theories and I'll tell you why I think its wrong, but you're welcome to disagree in return of course.

I have no idea how you choose your friends.
My experience has been the exact opposite.
