For all of you Christians who were so dishonest the first time I asked the question:

"If a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you." -- Leviticus 20:14

"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." -- Leviticus 21:9

"Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt." -- Genesis 38:24

The bible was written by man. Many took advantage, and wrote laws and scripture that was convenient for them at the time. Even the New Testament, the books of Mark, John, and Matthew were not written by Mark, John, or Matthew, but by priests and scholars hundreds of years later based on oral traditions and stories passed down to them.

The Bibles message cannot and should not be interpreted literally in every context.

I looked up the passages, I find it interesting that some passages directly before the ones you quote say put to death and not put to the fire, this implies they are different. Perhaps put to the fire does not actually mean burned to death? Just a guess here but maybe that refers to bringing a sacrifice to the fire of the alter.
PS my translation says put to the fire not burnt with fire and it is a printed by the JPS, one of the less apologetic editions.

Also, the last quote comes from Judah, and is not a commandment but just a statement made by a guy in the bible. And also if you read your bible all the way to Genesis 38:26, you see that Judah realizes the error of his ways and Tamar does not actually suffer any harm.

all of that is in the OLD TESTAMENT..that all changed when Jesus died for us (in the NEW TESTAMENT)...that was the law back in the day. God didn't require that, man did.

p.s.....read the rest before you pass judgment...since most people think that ONLY Christian's pass judgment.

Be blessed :)
