I find the 2005-2006s have less quality issues ( I mean having problems) so far compared to some of the older Focus models.

The SOHC and DOHC means how many cams are in the motor

Both engines for most of the years were 2.0s... the differece being 1 cam (single overhead cam) or 2 cams (Dual overhead cam).. the 2 cam motor, is not as simple as the SOHC but I like it a lot more personally (it's the one with the black valve cover)

later models had 2.3 DOHCs ... have had no issues with them.

well...I have a 2002 Ford Focus 2 door hatchback....it's a 1.8 diesel engine with about 75 horse power...it's got an 5+1 manual gearbox.....it's the European model since I'm in Europe......truthfully...it's probably the best car i have ever owned......the only problem is that u must replace the belts and all the fluids...after about 6000 miles....but.....the car is easy to drive...with the diesel the gear changes are far apart so no 6 sec for the 5th...the car...even after 5 years still does 180 km/h(110 mph)...anyway...as i said earlier...it a really good car...cant wait to save up and buy the new one

i have no experience with this car. However now that you're becoming a Realtor (I can't remember if you said you have your lic. yet or not)

Get an Automatic, whatever you get. You're going to be doing too many other things & with clients & what not (don't tell the CHP that), between fumbling for phone or notepad to jot down a # or info off of a fsbo sign or something, if you're have to shift too,,??

sheesh, i couldn't handle that. For your own safety, get an automatic. Although I drive a toyota, Ford's are a great car ,,my 1st car was a 66' mustang!

:)

It's about average for small cars from ford. Lot's of rattles and road noise. Pretty dependable overall with a few quirks. Good mileage (we have 2 of them)
