I'm thinking about going sometime next year....possbily in out summer...June/July. I will be staying for a month or two just to check it out and then possibly move in 2009. I live in NJ so obviously I'll be flying from here to CA and then to OZ.

you need to watch the flight sales in your area. generally if you book six months ahead of time you'll get the cheapest flights - tho it may not be the best time weatherwise to see australia.
our winter - your summer is the best time to see the north of australia ie. queensland and northern territory.
you can't see it all mate as the country is bigger than the u.s.a. so pick a region and a theme - like beaches, surfing, wildlife, national parks, hiking, etc.

it depends.
were are u coming from and were do u want to go?
i would say around Chrissy would be the most expensive. as it is our summer here and there is high demand for the beaches that would be the best time but mayb not the cheapest.

if u can tell me when ure thinking of coming and were ure coming from. i will be more than happy to help you out.

It depends entirely on where you want to go. If you want the tropical north, go in the dry season, Australia's winter. If you want the Southern States and beaches, go in the summer.

Australia is bigger than the USA and has a range of climates. The highest demand period is the summer, particularly over Christmas and New Year.
