i asked the same question. people are you to prosecute you for your belief's. i don't believe in other religions but i don't disrespect them. it seems to me that people who don't believe like to put others down because they don't want to look into it themselves. i've studied other religions...and even before i did that i was a christian. at least i have enough respect and a open heart to respect other people's thoughts and beliefs. it's a personal struggle they deal with. let that be between that person and God. and when the time is right, God will deal with them. have a blessed night!

You have irrational beliefs, and you teach them to younger children who, out of fear and love believe you regardless of evidence. Its not mean to point out holes in your religion. However I think I know more of what you are talking about, and it is a common when people are taught lies or perceived lies their entire life, it is expected that those individuals feel an anger towards those who lied to them.
You want to talk about being mean? The reason is because they were lied to and told horrible things like Hell and how much the human is a sinful disgusting creature and that the only solution to this problem is to believe in a deity that will punish them for not believing. That is mental abuse. To say you(Christianity) did nothing is ignorant.
(Note) I am not saying all Christians do this. But you are spread lies about reality. By lies I mean you do not have certain knowledge of the topic of creation or existence, you proclaim to those too naive enough to question you that these are truths. I don't blame you completely your friends/parent or some authority figure got you to believe in things without evidence at one time too.
Atheism isn't a belief is a lack of belief in god. It is as much as belief as Off is a TV channel. (I don't know who that quote is from, but it fits the issue)

Atheists are not all mean, nor are the ones who are ALWAYS mean. Christians on this site are just as guilty when it comes to atheists and those who don't agree with them (not all, but I'd say an equal number to the atheists).
The problem is that people don't like having their beliefs challenged, and they take it personally when someone disagrees. If they could rise to the maturity level of healthy debate, both sides could learn from one another.

First of all, Christians critisize Atheists just as much as Atheists critisize Christians or other religions. Not all Atheist are mean and bad, as you put it. Most of them respect your belief, as long as you respect theirs. I agree that, just because we differ in opinion doesn`t give you or us the right to be mean about it or discriminate. But then again, the world isn`t filled with only nice people, either.

You are posting on an unmoderated public forum. If you do not want anyone to respond, then go post somewhere else.
I will critique any belief system or belief that is contradictory within itself, or contradicts known facts.
If you seriously believed that the world was flat, and I proved to you that it was in fact a sphere, would you want to keep believing s you had, or would you want to adjust your belief to accommodate what you had just learned?

Imagine you lived in a country where 85% of people believed in Santa Claus. Some others believed in the Easter Bunny, a few more believed in elves. But the Santa-believers ran your government. Made laws that every home must have a chimney, that every one must learn to bake cookies. And they changed the school curriculum also.
Of course the elf-believers appear equally irrational, but their beliefs don't interfere as much.

they are mean to us and critisize our beliefs because they believe we are completely stupid for believing that our sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus. But why do we care about what they think because if we know that He did in fact wash away our sins with His blood and know and believe with all our hearts that Jesus is the christ and we know that our belief is right in the eyes of God. What we should do is be examples of the love of Christ to them, and maybe, with our help, they will see that He is the way we should be following.

I don't criticize, but I do disagree with Christian beliefs. I also correct any misinformation about atheists I see.

Because christians monopolize the political process and make it impossible for non-christians to be elected to public office, and they make laws based on their religious beliefs that the rest of us are forced to live by.
