My dog Buffy stares at me all the time, I can't help but wonder if she needs something more or if it is naturaul for such a small dog to get attachted to ONE person but be OK with any other dog that isn't 5 times as big as she is.Is it normall for her to be obbsesed with me to the point where when I leave and come back she just wants to be with me and when I'm gone too long she looks for me?I'm scared for her safety.I want to make sure she's ok and isn't scared that something bad will happen! Please get back to me if you know the answer!

I have had my pom for a month. She is five years old and was at a puppy-mill having puppies and was retired to my aunt and uncle's house 1 week before my birth-day, when she was given to me as a birthday present. She stares at me constently.I brush, and feed her along with my crossbreed, and rat-terrier.I am 11 now thanks to my birth day and I am trying to remian stronger than Pepsi the crossbreed who learned that she was stronger when I was younger.I have two qeustions now.Why does Pepsi growl and snap at me now that I have told her I am stronger and showed it to her?And Why does my Pom think I am the leader or something?I'm just a kid!

Yes, that's absolutely normal for the breed. Pomeranians are a "one person" dog. It's nothing to worry about. My Pomeranians stare at me constantly. If I don't pay attention to her, she'll start "talking" to me. If I continue to ignore her, she'll rush at the chair I'm sitting in and bounce it with her front paws. She follows me EVERYWHERE! They naturally love and want to be center of attention.

However, I am a little confused about you being scared for her safety. You should never put any pet in a position where they can get hurt. ☺

Ahhh, welcome to the world of small breed lap dogs.

There is nothing wrong with your pom, she is just completely devoted to you and thinks the sun and moon revolve around you and so you must feel the same way!

It is easy to spoil a dog that acts so devoted, so try taking some obedience classes, for fun, even if she is well behaved. You can help her learn commands and she can gain some confidence and independence It would be a good thing for her to learn that although you are her owner and you love her, there are other things in life to enjoy as well.
But be assured, she is absolutely normal and you don't have to be afraid.

Pomeranians are very much Lap pups .They are very possessive and loving. They love to snuggle and cuddle all the time. Some even have separation anxiety when the owner leaves.I have a 18 yr old Pom that still acts like a youngster. He makes almost every step I do,but when he sits and stares at me something is usually wrong or he wants something in particular, like a treat,a belly rub, something. It will be a process of elimination for you.He has needed his anal glands expressed once when he sat and stared. So just keep working with her until you figure it out.I have many pomeranians and each ha his own little personality ,but they are very possessive. They are Lap dogs and that means just that ,they love to cuddle and snuggle as much as possible.Make sure you leave her something to lay on of yours when you leave and maybe the TV or radio on.Also give her chews to keep her busy and Toys of her very own to cuddle.I use pig ears for my little ones to chew on and they love them.It is not unusual for them to be anxious when you leave and want to be with you even in the bathroom. My babies sleep in the bed with me.I love my Pomeranians! They can live to be 25 years old.Good Luck and send her to me if you can't handle it!Don't Panic !!!It is perfectly normal behavior.Good Luck

sometimes small dogs just attach to one person. Has she always done this or is it something new? if its new behavior, have your outings changed? like did u just start working, or working more hours? gone more than usual? if u are spending less time at home than u used to, than she may just miss you. i prefer small dogs, and i find that most do attach to one person, but are usually okay with someone else. Sometimes, like when she is looking for you, it may be that you give her the most attention and she is lonely. My beagle did the same thing when i lived at home, and when i left after high school, she was attached to my dad, but when i was there she would be on me and not leave my side because i was her mom, even though i didnt live there anymore.

How long has she been behaving this way? How old is she?

A dog being attached to one person is not unusual, especially if the person is the dog's primary caretaker. (ie feeds and waters, and walks the dog most)

If she has been this way a long time, it's normal. If it's a sudden change from normal behavior, have a vet check her for physical problems.

It's natural for a dog to bond with one person or another in the house your dog as bonded with you and shows a lot of affection any time you come home from work.

yes, a little more back ground would be great! If you are worried you can take her to your vet, but it is normal for a dog to bond. My grandmas dog will not leave her side! It is just the way the dog is ^_^

Thing to take in to account

Food?
Sudden changes in behavor?
How she acts to others?
How is she when your not There!

If there are sudden changes in behavor and or Eating differently you should check out the vet!
