I LOVE being homeschooled. I have been homeschooled for five years now, and it is awesome. You can go at your own pace, rather than being subjected to other student's paces who may be below you intellectually.
I am 15 and I graduated this year, because I have been able to do two years in one, for the last couple years. I am performing at the college level.
Vacationing and taking breaks comes much easier when homeschooling. Also, alot of the "busy work" is cut out.
Since schooling is not a situation of "One size fits all" with homeschooling you can cater alot more to each student, and overall may come out ahead.
I would say there are also cons though. I have talked with homeschoolers who feel like they have no social life. For me, this was not a problem, because I have so many friends that are homeschooling as well, but if there aren't any others out there in your area it can be tough.
Another con is that often parents are not willing to put school first and make it a priority, and so you have kids that "graduate" with not the knowledge of a snail. If these children ever decide to go onto college, acceptance may come harder.
Some parents are just not cut out to be teachers. They don't have the know-how or patience to deal with their children.
"Different strokes for different folks". Homeschooling may work well for some parents and children. Others, it may be the death of them. An honest evaluation of the situation is definitely needed.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

I was homeschooled from Kindergarten through high school. I know experiences differ, but my homeschooling experience was AMAZING. It was education at it's best; I wasn't distracted by other classmates, I could work at my own pace and the world was my textbook. I would reccomend homeschooling, but through a program, like the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. They send you a free computer, all your textbooks and you even have online teachers. Thanks to Pa Cyber, I graduated high school a year early with 53 college credits! If you do plan on homeschooling, make sure you do something out in the community, because a negative aspect of homeschooling is it can be isolating and having a social life can be very hard. Homeschooling was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I now look forward to going on to an Ivy League college in New York. Go for homeschooling!

I was homeschooled from third through 12th grade. I enjoyed most aspects of it. The biggest drawback for me was graduation. My parents did not know that they had to keep track of all of my schoolwork/grades from 9-12th grade. Because they did not do this I was unable to receive a diploma. Now I'm studying to take my GED. Kinda stinks.
Homeschooling can be vastly different from public school. In my situation, I went to a homeschooling co-op. It was basically like going to school once a week - I had teachers for different classes (History, Math, Science, etc.) and they assigned school work for the rest of the week. It made things a bit easier on my mom once I reached 8th or 9th grade.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have been homeschooled for 6 years it is so much better than public education . I mean I have so much time and feel like I'm learning more . When I did go to school I was the smartest in my class and know I can advance as far as I want to .

hello, i was homeschooled all my life--K1-K2, primary-highschool (grades 1-12). on the whole, homeschooling was a very enjoyable, care-free experience :D
erm, i can't compare homeschool with public school because i've never been to public school--only heard stories and my two elder brothers also experienced public school for a few years.
here are my pros and cons.
pros:
flexible
allows for full concentration on homework, lesser distractions
closer family bond
no peer pressure
parents have lesser worries and fears
no extra costs like traveling, schoolbooks, snacks, etc.
no rough bullying, bloody fights, or scathing threats
instills self discipline and independence--only the first few years my mum taught me; after that, i was pretty much on my own (DVDs taught us).
less stress, because there's no Extra work
more nutritious and homecooked meals
i believe there are lots more :D
cons:
possible that to some aspect there was not enough socializing, mainly due to parents being over-protective.
no other con!!! :D
ok, here's my viewpoint on homeschooling :) hope it helps you with your research paper...

I have been homeschooled since the 4th grade and I am now a junior in highschool. I really love it.
Pros: I can work at my pace (usually faster than public schools allow)
I can make my own schedule
I have tons of time for other activities
I have made $8000 since I had time to start my own ebay business.
I got to design our library's website and made $2000 doing it.
I get to graduate 2 years early and should have a bachelors degree before I am 20
Cons: None for me but I know some teens complain they dont have a social life, my guess is they would have one if they really wanted one. Its so easy to meet people and make friends wherever you go.

I was home schooled from tenth to graduation. but, I was involved in a private school that offered us debate, choir, drama and art. So I got to interact with other people my age and I had a graduation ceremony with the other five students in my grade. I was also able to attend the community college in my town to get both high school and college credit for myself. I finished eleventh grade in three months. Overall, the experience was one that I thoroughly enjoyed. My three younger siblings have been home schooled since kindergarten. One is a manager in a department store and the other two are graduating this year and next year. It was rough for them, but they got to go to exciting places they wouldn't have been able to if they had been traditional students. My parents were stationed in Germany and the family got to travel all over Europe without worrying about the kids getting behind in schoolwork. It was fabulous and I am now homeschooling my four year old. Hope this helps!!!!!

I was homeschooled from middle school on up to when I graduated in 2004 and for the most part I hated it, I without a doubt learned more then I would have in public school, but if I had a problem, that my mom/teacher wasnt able to get then I was stuck figureing it out, and believe me figuering out quantum physics as a sophomore was no easy task, and now as I enter into my senior year in college as a Molecular Biology major, I find myself teaching my younger sister things that she and my mom both dont know, and it get quite trivial at times, I was lucky enough to know lots of people in my town and have a somewhat productive social life. Most homeschoolers however, are not as fortunate, they lack the social skills to succeed in life, the reason most kids liked homeschooling is because they would have been picked on and high-school would not have been an enjoyable time for them. For me when I took drivers Ed. in 10th grade since i played summer baseball for years I knew all the jocks and they knew me, so I became popular right away in a highschool of over 500, but at least 90% of homeschoolers I know if not more, lack any type of sociable skill, its quite sad to see really, not to mention parent teacher conferences were really really weird....lol, I see this is for a research paper, and feel free to email me with any question that you may have.

I just thought I'd add a comment about Lorelei's homeschooling experience. She is doing quite well for someone her age .I know I doubted that she was a psychologist as she had claimed in another q&a . She is certainly doing quite well for a junior in high school.Lorelei you have given some good answers on here, just be yourself to give yourself credibilty.Keep answering though.Take care.

I have been homeschooled for half a year and I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!!!! You don't see your friends every day, I sit in my room all day and do work, and its boring! The only good side is you can go on vacations, and you dont have homework, and no teacher is going to stand infront of you for 7 hours, and teach you nothing.
