I am purchasing a house built in 1915. It has an unfinished basement, an unfinished attic, and no central air or ducts. I plan on having central air installed and was wondering if the fact that my basement and attic is unfinished would make it easier to install central air/ducts?

It should make it easier; get at least 3 estimates before deciding.

If it is more than one floor, you will have to take the main duct up through the house. With an unfinished attic and basement, it will be easier to run the ducting.

There are other options available to you; ductless systems, window/wall units.

What is the existing heat system? Do you really need air cooling capability?
