I think it is a great idea. Make sure the parents approve. Good for you to be so outgoing with the kids!

I am a CPR instructor, and teach babysitting as well. It is my opinion that two babysitters cannot safely watch four children in two pools.

Pools are dangerous. They are more dangerous than handguns, mowers, and fireworks. They are fun, and attractive, and a wonderful way to relax and have a good time- but 9 people a day will die in one, and another 45 will be hospitalized and possibly suffer long-term affects from a near drowning. We don't know how many near-misses and unreported accidents there are a day- probably in the hundreds if not thousands!

MY suggestion: Only let two kids swim at a time, and both in the same pool. The other two can be inside or in the yard with the other sitter. If the 'pool sitter' has to take their attention away from the pool for ANY reason, the pool is shut down for a little bit while the issue is taken care of. (I.e.- BOTH kids out of the pool before answering the phone or helping one go potty.)

Here is my concern: The two sitters will, because of sheer human nature, start to interact with each other and tend to focus on only some of the kids. You won't really have two sitters watching two kids each, you have two people sorta watching 4 kids each in a high-risk situation.

Can one sitter watch one pool and the other watch the other? ONLY if the two sitters cannot easily see or talk to the other, or we are right back at the '2 sorta watching 4' scenario.

Its completely up to the parents of the children. Its a great activity and w/ your background w/ CPR I'm sure the parents would agree. Ask them and you've got the only answer that counts.

Good luck, hope you can swim w/ the kiddies!

I'm sorry, what exactly do you need help with? Have all the young kids wear life jackets or arm floaties (just to be extra safe) get water balloons, water guns, those little fish that you wind up and they swim around, and use the pool toys you do have....

well, I personally think this is up to the parents.. not you, and not us. Get permission from the parents and see what they think about this. If they don't approve don't do it.
