Although your crime is only petty theft, it was committed while an assualt was being comitted and what may be considered a felony assualt due to the extenuating circumstances, unfortunately even though you did no actual assualting you can still be charged.

All the above are pretty much right. It totally depends on the state you live in. Your first offence? Good thing. If they have you on video like you said, then there's not alot you can say, and if thats the case DONT LIE! (who was video tapeing?) Did you see that video? somebody could have just told you that. The cops, anybody. Hopefully your very sorry about what you did and make sure the judge knows that. You will probably get probation. Unless he wants to make an example of you. Anyway, YOU BLEW IT. Now your in the system. You basicly cant even spit on the sidewalk if you get convicted of this. That kind of sh*t might seem cool now, but believe me, I've been in the system almost all my life and I wish more than anything in the world, that I would have chosen a different path.Dont worry what your friends say. they will maybe end up in and out of prison and not even remember who you are later on. Sorry Im going on and on but I know exactly how it is. SO take care and be good.

What you describe is strong arm robbery. The fact that you chased them looks bad. If you had just stood around and not done anything, even if taking the skateboard. Why did drop it later?
What was your involvement prior to the beatings? Were you just standing in the background? Were you verbally aggressive?
Ideally, you'd like to be able to say "Look, my friends did all this, and I did nothing to contribute, except picking up the skateboards at the end, which I dropped soon afterwards."
Good luck, and take this as a life lesson to stop hanging around people like that. Cultivate some new friendships.

First of all, if what you say is true, a good attorney should be able to plea bargain this down or, if you're lucky, even get it dismissed. But I'm assuming you'll have a PUBLIC DEFENDER, so .................really hard to say what he/she will be like. Most are not very good, although there are a few, especially the brand new ones who will make a real effort in your behalf. As far as a conviction and sentence, You didn't state your age. If you're nearly 18 it's possible you could be tried as an adult. If you're under 16, have no prior convictions, are doing ok in school etc. it's possible you could get something as menial as community service. It's really difficult to say. Different states have different penaltys for the same crimes. And the judge (if it goes that far) may, or may not be a harda_ _. In addition, if it's on video, I think it's very likely that it won't end up in court.

You'll probably get a stern warning and maybe some probation time as long as no one required medical attention. Learn a lesson from this and find some new friends to hang out with. It's cool to have fun when you're a teen but sometimes we make a mistake in judging in choosing our friends. Make wise decisions and if something doesn't seem right or you see trouble brewing, get the heck outta there and go home.

"The kids have it on video(which I didnt know-if i did i would have stayed across the street)"
- Funny how a camera changes things. I beg to differ. You acted not knowing the camera was watching and you did exactly what you would have done knowing there is a camera. It should not take an officer or a camera to keep you in line. Didn't your parents teach you anything?

First thing you need to do is ditch your looser friends. It's kids like that who usually end up in prison. You missed the point of your mistake when being involved in that beating. You did not listen to conscience.

You will probably get informal probation if your county has that. If not informal probation you will probably get formal probation which will include rules you have to follow and possibly community service and pay restitution...
