Isidore is 13 weeks now and is still kneading me. I've heard they do this to their mothers for milk but Izzy hasn't been near a momma cat for 2 months! (don't start, long story) Is this normal?

PS: 9 week old Xander doesn't do this. Izzy has done it all his life with me.

Yes, it's normal. Some cats do it all their lives.
My dad has a 13-year-old cat that still kneads. I have a 9-year-old, a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old that do it on a regular basis. Sometimes they knead me (I call it "making biscuits"), sometimes it will be a pillow or a stuffed animal and sometimes it will even be another cat!
They do this when they are happy and comfortable. It reminds them of a time when they felt safe. It's along the same lines of a human who sleeps in a fetal position. Not all of us do it, but those who do, do it for the reminder of the security that position brings.

I have a male cat that's about 5 years old and everytime he gets near me he wants to knead on me and then he drools. I have had lots of cats but never had one that does this. I can only theorize that maybe he was weaned too soon, and doing this brings back fond memories of when he was with his momma nursing. It's kind of cute.

Yes, it is very normal. My cat is seven years old and she still kneads everyone in my family. She hasn't seen her mother since she was three months old! It is normal for cats to do it because it means that she/he loves you.

My 10 year old cat still does that, it's just a way of showing affection like a cat version of a hug.

The cat is putting his smell on you. Marking you as his own. It an affection thing. If you've had the cat since it was that little then it looks at you like a mother. Just enjoy.
(My aunts a vet, I help her out, and see this all the time)

Cats do this by instinct. I have adult cats that do this. Sometimes I find it annoying, but the cat looks so blissfully happy that I don't have the heart to make it go away.

Mine is 2 years old now and still does it now and then. I just look upon it as a sign of affection.
