I've lived in Falls Creek for 8 seasons and the park and pipe up there will be great this year, the snow is fantastic already and we have the only ski in ski out village. you can strap on outside your lodge and slide right away to the lifts. it's cheaper thatn flashy NSW resorts and we are all friendly, come and visit me at the Man Hotel for a beer on BIG CUP night!

I can't reccommend Thredbo high enough.
I've been snowboarding for a good 10 years and I feel it's definately one of the better Australian resorts and has the best runs. They are far steeper (and easier to get to) than those at perisher blue.
Hope that helped!

New South Wales and Victoria
The Australian Alps are the highest mountain ranges of mainland Australia. They are located in south-eastern Australia, straddling far southern New South Wales and eastern Victoria. The Alps contain the Australian mainland's only peaks exceeding 2,000 metres (6,500 feet) and the only place that snow occurs regularly.
